I made this cake for a halloween party. My first attempt at making a treasure chest. I was super happy. I used rice chrispy treats for the lid since it is lighter than cake. I had a lot of fun making it. Covered in fondant and painted black icining color on the fondant to make it look weathered. I figure it's a compliment when it was eaten to begin with because people thought it was a "real" chest.:)
I cut a coffin shape out of the middle, covered both the coffin and the main cake in fondant, then filled the hole with crushed oreos to look like dirt. Pumpkins and ghoast made from gumpaste. Just a fun little cake that I took to a contest at work, and won! :)
