Fanned Hearts Wedding Cake.
This cake was inspired by a design by scrumptious cakes in the UK. Bride and groom found it in white, but wanted it in their colour scheme of hot pink, black and white. Fondant hearts, left to dry then stuck on the cake with piped RI.
Frilly Bows Wedding Cake.
This cake is inspired by a Maisie Fantasie design. Bride wanted big pink bows to tie into her wedding. The frills are all done with individual strips of fondant. Loads of work.

Paisley Swirl Cake
Haven't posted a pic on here for a while, so thought I would.. :) This is two tiers of chocolate cherry ripe mud cake, layered and covered with dark chocolate ganache and covered with chocolate fondant. The paisley design is all fondant work. And I've made the entire cake shiny with a little spray of oil. The name topper is hand rolled with fondant, also.
Maori Birthday Cake.
This is a koru inspired design for the 50th birthday of a Maori New Zealand lady. Client emailed me this picture - http://www.flickr.com/photos/bellacupcakes/5059533006/ which I took a little inspiration from. The topper is hand rolled fondant mixed with tylose powder. Koru fronds are rolled black fondant, also.
Pink Mario Kart Cake.
I made this 3D hand carved mario kart (from the wii) for my little girl's 5th birthday party today! She's obsessed with Princess Peach and her pink kart - so this is Kayley's kart! I'm really happy with it. It took me two whole days to finish (that's JUST the decorating!). Hope the kiddies like it today.. :)
My Wedding Cake.
This was my wedding cake which I made! We had a very small wedding.. so I wanted to do something unique. I looooove trees, so had the topper custom made by a lady who makes wire beaded trees in the US. The quote on the cake says "May our roots grow towards each other underground", which is an excerpt from one of my favourite love quotes about growing old together. Hence why I made the cake have roots! This was very hard to cover in fondant as it was a double barrell 6" and the main roots were carved at the base. It held a lot of meaning for us which made it a very special cake. :) The colours of the cake don't show up well in this picture, so there's another one with natural light.
Brushed Embroidered Wedding Cake
Taupe coloured icing (looks a little grey in this pic). Then some open rose brush embroidery... and small piped dots on the top tier. And a large sugar peony... The centre of that isn't quite correct. :)
Whimsical Tea Pot Cake
Handmade figurine from fondant. Teapot is handcarved, handpainted with overlaying fondant swirls and flowers. Name is hand painted. :)
Classic Vvory, Dark Grey And Silver Wedding
This is a zesty lemon butter cake layered with white chocolate ganache for the top tier and dark chocolate coconut mud cake, layered with choc-coconut ganache for the bottom. Roughly 30 handmade sugar roses on the top and perched on the corners.
Ladybug Garden Cake.
This is Sweet Disposition Cakes design - I just changed a few little things and made it smaller. Three tiers - ladybug is a cake, too.
21St Cocktail Party Cake.
This cake was inspired by one of Key Art Studios. The topper is plastic martini glass and the girl is made of fondant with an outift to match hers on the night. The bodice shaped tier is a lot harder to cover in fondant than I realised. All decorations on the cake are fondant.
Graduation Book Cake.
Hand carved. Sugar flowers hand made - leaves are modelling chocolate. Name and quote are free-hand written with edible pen.. Sides of pages painted with edible gold luster.
Shaggy Puppy Cake.
Head and body are cake. Legs are fondant. This is a strawberry white chocolate mud cake.. covered in white chocolate ganache, then fondant. There's a couple of pics below that show the carved shape of the body and how I put on the fur. :)
Teddy Bear Tea Party Cake.
Made for an older lady who loves teddy bears. All decorations made from fondant (with added tylose).
Yellow Rose With Piping.
Full bloom sugar rose and some delicate leaf and vine piping - lightly painted with white sparkle dust and vodka.. This is rich fruit cake with almond icing and fondant..
Pink And Green Engagement Cake.
I designed this cake for an engagement (bits and pieces taken from lots of different cakes). There's no engagement folder, so I put it in my bridal shower.. All decorations are fondant. Initials are fondant with tylose... Left to dry then painted with sparkle dust. Hearts are fondant and tylose. TFL.
Japanese 30Th - With Girl In Kimono.
Branches are handpainted with black gel paste and vodka. Blossoms are hand made using this method... http://sugarteachers.blogspot.com/2009/06/cherry-blossom-tutorial.html (scroll down a bit). Was my first time making them - they could have been better! Figurine made from gumpaste - her kimono is hand painted with her scarf matching the cake. I really like how this turned out. Soooo much work, though. White chocolate mud cake with white chocolate ganache and fondant.
Baby Footsteps Christening Cake.
I attempted to make the baby converse shoes (but didn't do them high tops) from the template by stellastarchild. Thanks so much to her for putting those up! I think if I ever do them again, I'll know what to do better. The footsteps were done with a handrawn template and an exacto knife. Inscription on the board is done with edible markers/pens. This is two tier white chocolate mud cake with white chocolate ganache, then covered in fondant. TFL.
I designed and made this cake for the June issue of Cake Central Magazine. I was sooo excited to be asked, seeing I rolled my first piece of fondant only a year ago. I'm not completely happy with it.. But was given a tight deadline, so glad I got it done and glad it made it in! I received the magazine yesterday and it's a pretty good read!
