The models for this cake came from my garden.... the water lily, lily pad, water lettuce, Japanese iris, river rock, and even the frog. All in gum paste, except the river rock, which is fondant and gum paste. Cakes covered in white fondant, with moss green butter cream piped around the edges.
Spring theme..... lemon cake with lemon cream cheese filling.
Birthday cake for a 16-year-old boy. Needed to be boyish, but not kid-ish, and a little bit grown-up, for the family birthday party. Soccer ball is fondant over grey buttercream, tied up with a red fondant shoelace. I've just finished the Wilton fondant course and this is my first "real" cake.
