Just playing around with colors again.
The gentle withdrawal from Christmas sweets to gingerbread and cocoa in January - the only way to wean myself!
Pastel Christmas designs
Same fondant-covered dummy as the Christmas cake. The snowflakes were from Jennifer Dontz' pearl clay recipe (yummy!), dusted with raindow disco dust. Love that dust, but I was finding it everywhere for weeks!
My first attempt at covering something with fondant. These were dummy layers and I used Wilton fondant for the first time. Ugh, what a workout! The top layer was a challenge but the other two went on okay. Of course, styrofoam is a different animal, isn't it?
Roses made with Edna De La Cruz's method, stephanotis and arrangement made with Jennifer Dontz' method from her DVDs
For this year's family picnic
For a multi-family vacation getaway. The customer is a huge flip flop fan, so these were fun to do.
For a co-worker's baby shower
My first batch of decorated cupcakes...less is often more.
More first attempts at cookie decorating
Just playing around
Hot air balloons for my nephew's first apartment. He was a huge fan of hot air balloons when he was little, so these were especially fun to do.
A nosegay and side spray made using Jennifer Dontz's DVDs on flower arranging and making roses & stephanotis. I love, love, love her DVDs!
My first attempt at decorating with RI. A long way to go, but I'll sure have fun trying!
Finally, a cake worth uploading! Basic vanilla almond with faux Bavarian creme and raspberry filling. The blossoms are made with Jennifer Dontz' (jenniferMI) pearl clay recipe and were so yummy I almost didn't have enough for the cake! TFL
For a girly-girl whose college colors were black and gold. The cake was my first try with SMBC, definitely can't write with it, with my hot hands!
Just for fun.
For a neighbor/volunteer firefighter who helped us in a medical emergency. Chocolate sour cream with almond bc and crushed mini-oreo cookies on top. First decorated cake in a couple of years, so I'm not too stressed by the flaws. TFL!
My first paid cake. Overall not bad, though I'm not happy with the way the name turned out.
I was happy with the roses, but as usual, my writing leaves much to be desired!
A thank-you cake for our boss, who paid for flu shots for the whole staff one year.
Office birthday cake; it wasn't perfect, but was the first cake I was truly happy with.
