My friend's B-Day cake. He's turning 40 and wanted a cake that poked fun at his age. I made a butter cream icing cake with fondant figures. I am actually amazed the guy really looks like the real thing!
For my hubby's B-Day. All buttercream except for Wile E. His three favorite things in the world, baseball, popcorn and Wile E. Coyote (getting squished of course!)
Tried doing a Wilton style baby castle cake for my daughter's 2nd Birthday. Had to make a few adjustments but turned out not too bad. All buttercream except for the decorations are fondant (flowers, roses, baby, turrets)
My Dad really likes reading Piers Anthony (Fantasy) books and one of the series is Xanth. So for his Birthday I decided to make one of his books "come to life". Lemon cake with buttercream icing and Debbie Brown inspired fondant characters.

My friend had twins and was having a Christening and wanted me to make her two peas in a pod for a cake. Chocolate cake with buttercream icing and fondant peapod/bugs. Real soothers.
Made this for my sister-in-law. She is a BIG Johnny Bravo fan. Loved the figure, hated the cake. The fondant would not stop bubbling and ripping and I didn't have time to make new MMF. Oh well, what you can't fix, cover in icing! :)
Made this cartoon character to be put on the top of a heart cake (to be made later) for my sister-in-laws birthday cake. She is a BIG Johnny Bravo fan! Made out of MMF.
My son was begging me to make him a Transformers cake and saw a picture of this cake made by someone else and said he wanted that. So I bought the Wilton pan and voila! Made a few cupcakes to go with it for the adults at the party.
My nephew's 2nd Birthday Cake. I copied an idea from I think an Australian caker (sorry but I can't remember who or I would give credit!) My Sis saw the photo and wanted it exactly like that. Animals, barn made from MMF the rest is BC icing. My sheep turned out to look like Shaun the Sheep from Wallace & Gromit (purely by accident)
Made a hot rod for my father-in-law's 60th. Turned out pretty good except I trimmed too much off of the nose of the car so it looks a little dorky but not bad for my first attempt at a car cake. The cat curled up is supposed to be their cat and the letters for Happy Birthday turn into a garden hose for washing the car.
Birthday Cake for my friend's boyfriend. 8" round covered in BC. All decorations are fondant and the big fish is RKT covered in fondant. The pictures don't do the fish justice since I painted it with olive green color and added pearl dust to it and it gave the skin a nice glossy, shiny look to it like fish scales. The close-up of the guy pic shows the fish in the background with some of the effect.
Made a cake for my hubby's B-Day. 3 layer cake with fondant cheese, onions and lettuce. The rest is icing with rice crispies for sesame seeds and crushed cookies to give the "meat " layer a BBQ look. Did a quick batch of shortbread cookies to look like fries....ran out of red icing so I couldn't put any "ketchup" on them.
For my baby's 1st Birthday I decided to do a Carousel. All BC except for the flowers which are fondant.
Birthday cake for my dad with a 50s style twist. Inspiration from "American Graffiti" at Mel's Diner. Lemon cake with BC icing. Fondant parking lot/windows and Royal icing for the signs. Obviously Hot Wheels for the cars.
Boy this was a quickie! Made this Strawberry cake (with real strawberries inside) out of icing for my son's school fair this morning....coming off of a 12hour night shift. Zzzzzzz. Not bad for a rush job. ;)
All sushi made from cake covered in fondant sushi (coconut to simulate rice and sprinkles in piping gel tinted orange to simulate roe) and board is cake covered in fondant twisted to look like wood.
Second attempt at a fondant covered cake. Turned out much better since I used my own cake/icing recipes and Rhonda's MMF (thankyou for the recipe!) Two 6" chocolate cakes with pink fondant imprinted with stars, white button chocolates for decoration and Purdy's chocolates in the box.
Wanted to try a new style of cake by using jello for water instead of icing. Certainly different to work with. There are teddies sunbathing, swimming, scuba diving, along with coral, fish and a crocodile. Sand is crushed Nilla wafers.
My first every attempt at a cake with fondant. (Used to working with icing only) Not bad for a first time...... All characters and scenery is fondant (based on Carol Deacon's cake)
