Dr. Seuss Graduation Cake
This graduation cake was made for a dear friend and based on the Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go!". Decorations are gp, covered in MMF with top layer being rkt. Almost a disaster (bottom cake fell apart night before and rushed to store in am for new ingredients to bake, cover and decorate for early afternoon... it was a close call but more or less came out okay :) TFL Oo, thanks to ChristinasCreative_Cakes for some inspiration, hope I made it my own:)

Winter Birthday Cupcakes
These cupcakes were for my daughter's kindergarden class to celebrate her 5th birthday. I suggested snowmen and teddy bear cupcakes and she said they had to be polar bears becuase teddy bears weren't very wintery (her b-day is in winter). And she wanted a pattern of hats and cupcake toppers so this is what she got. Thanks to CC members for the inspiration for the snowmen. TFL

My Kid Designed This...
This cake was made for my daughter's 5th birthday. She designed the cake herself several months earlier. As I sketch cakes she does too and I loved this idea- ground with flowers, atmosphere with clouds and rainbows and space with planets and stars. We didn't need this much cake but I loved that she came up with it so the top two layers are fake. Everything if mmf. I loved the concept but I wasn't as happy with the execution and I have never been so sick as I was as I made this for her party the night before.... oi... anyway she loved it so thats what matters. TFL.

Wedding Cake
The bottom two layers are fake, as per request, and top is lemon pound with a cream cheese filling. Sizes are 12, 10, 8 i think... it was awhile ago. The bride turned out not to have a florist lined up at the last minute and since she was soon to be family, I did the arrangements using artificial flowers (gerbera daisy, hydrangeas and crystals) to the best of my ability according to her colour scheme of brown and lime... it was challenging so be kind, I know I'm not a florist! Picke makes the colours look a little off but the fondant is white.

Black Belt Cake
This cake was made to celebrate a very nice young man and his recent accomplishment of being awarded his black belt in Taijitsu (japanese martial art). The cake is made to look like the badge for Taijitsu - hence the characters, I actually am not sure what they mean but I think it has something to do with warrior and perseverance, feel free if anyone knows to correct me! This is a 8" 3 layer chocolate WASC covered with mmf. The figure is 50/50 gp/mmf. It was made on very short notice but I still liked the way it came out... though the figure did not have time to dry properly which is problematic since he was standing... he became a little more squat than intended! TFL!

Ballerina Cake
These cake/cupcakes were for a little girl who loves all things Ballerina! The cake was more of a centre piece for the cupcakes. All were chocolate WASC. Cake is a 6" x 3layers BC with mmf accents and gp/mmf figure. The cupcakes were decorated in BC with gp ballerina dresses. I actually got to stick around to see everyone enjoy which was a lot of fun as well! TFL! PS> thanks to fatina for the topper idea

1St Birthday Bunnies
This is the cake I made for my youngest daughter's first birthday. Went with bunnies because she always carries this little velveteen bunny around! LOVED the way this came out in the end. Bunny on top is actually polymer so she would have a keepsake (I'm a bit of a mush), the grey and brown bunnies are both 50/50 mmf gp. Flowers and bees are too. 6" and 8" chocolate wasc with ganache filling, yum.

Ariel-Under The Sea
This is the cake I made for my daughter's 4th birthday party. I did my first cake for her birthday last year and since about February she has been asking that her next cake be an "Ariel cake with Flounder and Sebastian", she already has it planned up till her 9th birthday! lol. Had real difficulty with ariel, did the body twice and the face 3 times and still wasn't really happy, plus the left fin kept falling off... ah well, she loved it anyway. Everything is mmf or mmf/gp for the characters and the rigid corals/seaweed. 6" top and 10" bottom. Hope you guys like it too! oop, ignore the plastic under Ariel, I took it before she was fully dry and still needed support.

Pond Cake
This cake was for a little girl who loves salamanders and nature. She wanted a pond theme but nothing too "cartoony" so this was my best effort at realistic. I really liked the way it came out. All the figures, grasses, reeds and rocks are gp or mmf or 50/50. The cat-tails are fondant on bamboo skewers (couldn't figure out how to make it all edible and support the weight of the cat-tail- ah well). The big rock with the salamander is rkt shaped to the corner of the cake and covered in fondant. 10" x10" choc fudge cake with choc bc. This cake was made exactly one year from the first cake I tried decorating so that made this one kind of special too!

Mistake To Cake
This maybe should have gone in the disasters folder but this is funny, this cake is actually the original base layer for my topsy turvy cake but it kinda sunk on one of the edges overnight so I baked a new layer for the client's cake. Couldn't stand to throw away a perfectly tasty (choc fudge with Bailey's Irish buttercream) cake sooooo.... I made this to take to Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. Had to figure out someway to make use of the carved out centre, it actually turned out kinda cute, and it was tasty! TFL.

First Topsy Turvy
This is my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake, I've been wanting to give it a try, overall I think it came out. It was for an 18th birthday for a girl who likes blue and Zac Efron... not sure the cartoony character really captured him but I think she liked it anyway. Details: 6"- chocolate WASC with cookies'n'cream mousse, 8" - chocolate WASC with ganache, 10" vanilla WASC with Kahlua chocolate bc, all iced in bc and covered in mmf. Stars, number and Zac are all 50/50. TFL.

Thomas The Train
Hi all, made this for a boy who loves Thomas. It took wayyyyyy longer than I anticipated but I'm fairly happy with the result so I guess.... The character on top is made to look like his Mii character (from the Wii... had to ask on that one). Now for the details: BC with MMF and 50/50 accents. Thomas is carved RKT with MMF covering. Top layer is 6" vanilla WASC with cookies n' cream mousse filling, bottom is 10" chocolate fudge with ganache. Sir Topham, Gordon, James and Percy are all 50/50 gp/mmf. Thanks for taking a look! Oh and thank you to Melissa0902 for some inspiration.

Fire Cake
This cake was for a woman whose son was heading off to firefighting school. The building is iced in BC with MMF accents, the tree and fire engine are carved/sculpted RKT covered with MMF. Figures are MMF and decorations are MMF or BC. Cake- 8" 2 layers of choc wasc and 2 layers of yellow cake both filled with choc bc plus a layer of RKT to add height. The scale is a wee bit off, the firefighter would punch through the roof if he stood in the building! lol but I've decided to call that aspect whimsy... The dog is made to look like her son's, the joke being he can't put out the fire because his dog is sitting on it (thanks to a fellow CC'er for the idea on that- I remember seeing something like that but couldn't find the pic again) Sorry for the long winded description and thanks for looking!

Jungle Cake
This cake was for a little boys first birthday, and my first 'paid' cake:) Bottom is 12" chocolate WASC with choc bc, top layer is 6" french vanilla with vanilla bc. All decorations are MMF except the sign, the elephant head and the branch sticking out which are 50/50. This was a fun one, the couple had liked another jungle cake I had done and told me they "trust me" so go wild... The smash cake is 6" choc wasc also with MMF. TFL!

Thanks Doc
Made this for my doctor of many years as a thank you for being pretty fantastic (though she didn't quite make it to either delivery), we just love her! Vanilla sponge cake with bc covered in mmf. All figures/decorations are 50/50. Overall it turned out well but I still couldn't get the eyes right and didn't have the patience to go back and do it again... oh well, maybe next time!
