After browsing monkey cake photos on the internet, my son chose this cake. I based the design on the cake from Martha Stewart's website, but did not use her recipe.
This started out as a 9x13 cake. After cutting, carving, and covering with marshmallow fondant, it ended up looking remarkably like Hubby's remote control.
This started out as a bear. I used the Wilton stand-up bear pan, but carved off the unnecessary parts. After adding frosting and details crafted in marshmallow fondant, oh, and a hat made from an ice cream cone, my son had his penguin birthday cake.
For my son's 10th birthday, I decided to make a cake depicting his favorite food. The sauce is buttercream frosting, the cheese is grated white chocolate, and the toppings were all created out of marshmallow fondant. The yellow cake was baked in a 10" tart pan.
I created this cake for my 10 year-old son who wants to be a chef when he grows up. I used 2 8" layers and one 9"layer with carved Rice Krispies Treats for the top. The whole cake was then covered in buttercream and topped with marshmallow fondant.
