Jackie Cake
My best friend's little girl's birthday cake! It took be about 10 hours, not including the chihuahua head (her name is Jackie), which took me about 3 hours to make. For the gift box, I used a box strawberry cake covered in chocolate frosting. I used Pettinice fondant, and apparently rolled it too thin a few times and nearly gave up. So glad I didn't. Jackie is surrounded with cotton candy, a sort of gift box tissue paper stuffing. It was a ton of work but I can't wait to see her reaction.

Camera Cake
My very first time ever even touching fondant! It was a surprise cake for my best friend's birthday, who happens to be a photographer. I believe the cake was a white box cake. I used a cherry jam to crumb coat, and covered that with a buttercream frosting. The lens and pretty much everything else that's poking out were rice krispy treats that I made myself, but they turned out way lumpier than I'd hoped. I must have spent 8 hours making this thing, and given it was my very first time using fondant, or even making a creative cake at all, I was extremely proud of myself!

Dad's Pool Ball Cupcakes
Just regular ol' cupcakes...I got the idea from the Confetti Cakes book. I wanted to use fondant but that turned out to be too much work and I had too little time, so I just dyed small batches of cream cheese frosting as I went with Wilton gel dye, and for the black & brown I used chocolate, of course. The white dots that the numbers are on are little fondant dots, with black frosting used to write the numbers. Daddy was pleased!!
