Painted Peony Cake
This is my first attempt at cake painting. It seems to be something that is becoming more popular online so I gave it a shot. It is a pink peony that is then outlined with royal icing. I love how it adds dimension to the flower and makes it pop. What a great little spring cake. I hope everyone gives this a try. It is very easy to do.

Billowing 3 Tier Cake
My first attempt at the popular billowing technique. I certainly need much more practice. It was a lot harder than I thought to get a consistent result. This was also my first time using a mold that I had made myself ( the brooch)..so that was fun. I am really enjoying adding accents with the airbrush! TFL.

Thanksgiving Turkey Cake Style
This was my first attempt at the turkey on a platter cake. It was so fun to make! I used WASC pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon icing. The legs and wings are RKT. Cranberries and lettuce are fondant. "Breadcrumbs stuffing" is just leftover cupcakes with extra batter from the freezer chopped up. I used my new Duff airbrush for the first time and it worked very well for me. My thanks to Melissa Diamond from mycakeschool.com for the turkey tutorial. Hers was in buttercream but I decided to use fondant for that crispy skin with the shiny glaze. People thought it was real..so funny!

Baby Gift Boxes And Converse Shoes
A blue gift box shower cake made for my boss at work. It was my first time using ganache to try and get the sharp edges..still trickier than I thought. I followed Sharon from Sugarshack's awesome DVD to do the boxlids. I also used the Stella Starchild template for the Converse sneakers which is fantastic as my boss is a real shoe freak. She loved the cake!

This is my take on the " I am baker" rose cake that everyone is loving to make right now. I have to say that it was quit a little challenge as it took a two hour car ride to the party and the icing had to be totally redone on site. I will include a pick of the cake enroute to show you how the icing slid right off. If anybody has any tips they would like to share....

Flower Bouquet Watering Can Special 95Th Cake
This is a labour of love birthday cake for my Aunt's 95th birthday. She is an amazing woman who still lives independently, socializes avidly, is up on all the news, keeps up her place, cooks and still loves her garden! It was my first time making the fondant floor, my first time making many of these gumpaste flowers. I had made roses and tulips before but not hydrangeas, impatiens, ivy or even wired flowers!! I have had no courses on gumpaste flowers, just what I have learned here on CC and from the internet..although I dream of a course soon. It proves that if we can all learn together. My aunt and everyone else loved the cake. Thanks to other watering can cakes I had seen on CC for inspiration!

Handmade gumpaste moth orchids to match the brides bouquet complete the look...ahh to be on a beach right now.......

Groom's Cake
This is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Groom's cake. It is Margarita flavoured cake. The football is RKT covered in fondant, with details added with an edible food marker. The goomsmen loved it. Here in Canada it is not as traditional to have a Groom's cake yet so it was a pleasant surprise for him!!

Orchid Wedding Cake
Wow....my biggest cake yet and a huge relief to be done and pulled off without a crack, tear, tilt or bulge!!! This is a brown and blue 5 layer with 2 false round layer cake. Flavours include Vanilla, Choc chip cookie and Choc with Peanut butter Cup filling. The Gumpaste Cymbidium orchids ended up matching the brides bouquet perfectly even though I had not seen it. I just went with the florists description of the colours. It was my first attempt at gumpaste orchids and such a relief to pull them off. TFL.

Red Rose 30Th Anniversary Cake
This is a two tier WASC , vanilla bean buttercream filled cake for a couple celebrating their 3oth anniversary. Their daughter asked me to make the cake and I decided to make 30 gumpaste/fondant roses..one for each year of wedded bliss. Rose making is fun but it took over 8 straight hours solid to complete just the roses!! I was going to try a rose cascade but was afraid to attempt it with the weight of the flowers so I opted for this arrangement instead. It is my first cake with so many flowers. Pickup is in one hour...I hope they like it.

Abc Family Reunion Cake
This is my first time using an edible image transfer. It was lots of fun to add the frames and make this look like a real old fashioned portrait. These photos are of twin grandmothers of my neighbour. She is a twin and today her family celebrates with games and good times. WASC cake with Strawberry margarita icing. Bordered with a mix of Strawberry margarita and pina colada together. If anyone's ever been to the Dominican Republic that makes a drink called a Miami Vice...yummmy!!

Welcome Baby Lily
This is a Lily flower cake for a baby shower. I once again used the baby mould with a mixture of fondant/gumpaste. The cake is pina colada covered in pina colada buttercream. I also made 24 matching cuppies. I am still not happy with how realistic the flowers look and am looking for advice on how people get them so authentic looking. TFL.

Black And White Fantasy Flower Shower Cake
This is a buttercream cake..my first using Sugarshack's icing and smoothing technique. I still need a lot of practice. It is about 8 inches tall. The royal icing freehand piping matches the couples wedding invitation that my daughter created. I loved making the black and white fantasy flowers. They seem so current right now. I still prefer the ease of fondant but will continue to practice, practice, practice.

Anne Geddes Style Baby Shower Cake And Cuppies
This is a red velvet Anne Geddes style baby shower cake. I so much loved the one that lea74 made that I had to make it myself only a little bit bigger. Thank you so much to her for the beautiful cake to inspire me. I as well used the baby mould. I made 48 matching red velvet baby feet cuppies to match. I love the little mould and will be using it for a lily flower next. The butterfly is gumpaste hand painted with chalks. TFL.
