For a destination Wedding - they made the cake, I did the decorations. Royal Icing Seahorses, Chocolate shells, graham cracker sand. Getting the seahorses to the Dominican Republic in one piece was a challenge!

This very personalized birthday cake was made for a very special friend who loves clouds, the Tree of Life design, and the bright colors of sunsets and sunrises. Not my neatest work, but she was very touched. Triple Fudge cake with Raspberry Filling and MMF with Royal icing, fondant/gumpaste, and buttercream decorations. TFL!!
May 2012: Angel Food Cake with cream cheese frosting with a Memorial triangle Flag on top. Reads "Remember Those We've Lost". Tried the 'hidden flag' idea (by "17 and Baking") and I think the flag came out a bit mashed and uneven because of the angel food cake's density and center hole. If you want uniform layers use a regular cake or pound cake, I wanted the lightness of the AFC b/c it was so darn hot!
May 2011: Choc cake with strawberry-cream cheese filling with MMF base and fondant frog, bees, flora, and gumpaste Water Lilly.

This is how NOT to do draping and string work!! It was my first attempt at a 2 tier and all of the decoration techniques back in 2009. I can't look at it without abhorrence! At least it was level :o)

My first non-traditional-cake experience. I'm proud of this cake because I learned so much making it (trial and many errors) and it came out well and tasted amazing. My calculations (it's 2x actual scale) and procedure write up (for next time) turned out to be quite lengthy! I can't wait to have another chance to make it.
First time Basketweave: buttercream icing and royal icing flowers. I can't help picturing the babies from Little Shop of Horrors or tentacles from Men in Black 2 when I look at the rosebuds!!! Weird, I know.

Devil's food w/ chocolate pudding filling, buttercream icing, piping gel and mmf decorations. It took some people awhile to get the joke, so next time I'll put the "t-shirt" just on the continent instead of the whole earth. South America should be a bit bigger too :o)
