Mario And Princess Peach Kiss
This was a groom's cake and they requested Mario and Princess Peach on it. My Mario didn't come out too bad but Princess Peach looked a bit like a man in drag. Buttercream frosting with the characters made from MMF. Also, I had to use a sugar cone under Peach's dress to keep her upright. After I took the picture I put a question mark on the block Mario is standing on and put Peach's hand on Mario's shoulder.

Baby Rump With Teddy Bear
This was for a baby shower. Nursery colors were sage and brown so that's the colors I used for the cake. Teddy Bear is made of fondant. Mom was on a diabetic diet for gestational diabetes so the feet were made from a low-carb, low-sugar granola type bar I found in our local health food store. I did cover them in fondant and warned her the fondant was high sugar.

Guitar Birthday Cake
This is a cake that I made for my nephew's 16th birthday party. He loves playing his guitar and loved the cake. The body of the guitar is made from devil's food cake, buttercream frosting, and MMF on the top only. The neck was sculpted out of marshmallow cereal treats. The strings were a food-safe wire. The frets and tuning keys were made of MMF. I put the tuning keys in with toothpicks so they actually turned. I was very happy with how it came out. It was the same size as a standard youth guitar.

Michael Jackson Birthday Cake
My twin nieces love Michael Jackson so I made them this cake for their birthday party. It was a dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. I stenciled MJ on a piece of fondant then cut it out tight and put it on the cake. I used a chocolate mousse filling which I think was a bit too soft cuz it bulged a bit between the layers.

Fly Fishing Cake
This cake was for my sister and brother-in-laws 40th birthday party. He is an avid fly-fisherman and she is an excellent photographer. The people were made out of fondant to resemble them. The rocks, fish, and fly rod are made of fondant. For the fishing line I used a piece of dental floss threader, it is the only part of the cake that wasn't edible. It was a french vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

Spongebob Squarepants Plankton Cake
I made this cake for my son's 10th birthday party. He wanted a cake with Spongebob and Plankton. It is a marble cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and buttercream MMF. Plankton was made using a twinkie and fondant. I cut the holes in Spongebob fondant to show the green buttercream through before placing it on the cake, wish I had waited until after I put it on because some of the holes fell where they showed behind his mouth...lesson learned.

70S Theme Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday party as she was born in 1970. It was inspired by cakekim, though she did it better so if you like it and would like to use the idea I recommend checking out hers. When I went to move the fondant onto the cake, I forgot to put confectioners sugar on it so it wouldn't stick to itself and I ended up having to roll it out again which messed up the tie-dye effect a bit. It was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting then marbled fondant over that. Disco ball is made out of fondant with a plastic ball underneath. I tried to do out of solid fondant but the dowel kept wanting to slowly come up through it. Thanks for the idea cakekim, it was a big hit!

Tinkerbell Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Thanks to MIRNATKT who I got the idea from. Everything is edible except Tinkerbell and Silvermist. Dark chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Flowers and other decorations were made with fondant. In all there were 75 fondant flowers on this cake.

Fire Helmet
I made this for a dinner at the Fire Dept. where my husband is a firefighter/EMT. The shield and eagle that hold it, the brim of the helmet, and the ribs on the helmet are made of fondant. The rest is peanut butter buttercream made with a recipe I got from Serious_Cakes that I tinted black (delicious). I didn't have time to let it crust well so I couldn't get it really smooth like I would have liked to but overall I think it came out well...thanks to the article on here! I was pretty proud of the eagle shield holder, it took me a while to sculp it. Thanks to everyone who willing gives their expert tips for us newcomers to the cake decorating scene!

Peaches & Cream Wedding Cake
This was my first attempt at a wedding cake. I made it for my sister and brother-in-law's surprise 25th anniversary party/vow renewal. Fondant covered, silk flowers, satin ribbon. I don't know how everyone gets such clean lines with the piping details. My hand was so shaky and it definately showed. I thought it came out pretty well though considering it was my first. Next time I will be more brave and make the flowers and ribbon out of fondant or gumpaste. Got so many great tips off this site, thanks everyone!

Doggie Birthday Party Cake
I made this cake for my son's 9th birthday party. I sculpted all the animals out of fondant. The cattails are toothpicks with fondant tops. It looked better in the second picture (before my six year old smashed down on the plastic top that was covering it and smooshed the blue cake into the real cake and I had to fix it) but that pic is fuzzy (my camera stinks). It was entirely edible except the toothpicks in the cat tails. I was pretty proud of it even though I took a short cut and decorated it in the pan.
