Graduation Book Cake
Stack of books for a graduation cake for a family member. The graduate wanted all chocolate so each book is dark chocolate cake layered with cherry preserves and iced in Bailey's cherry chocolate BC. Everything is edible except the ribbon around the scroll (the scroll itself is GP). Lots of great ideas on how to do the books here on CC so I took a bit of inspiration from all of them...thanks everyone! This is my first time doing books and I also misjudged how heavy the end result would be, so I ended up not being able to use the stand I'd brought. :(

Rc Plane Themed Cupcakes
Chocolate & vanilla cupcakes for a little boy's birthday party. He loves flying RC planes so decorations are little helipads, propellers and bits of runways. Kind of a last-minute order so I didn't get too complex on the decorations. Mom and the birthday boy loved them though!

Mini Cupcake 6-Tier Variety Tower
10 different flavor combos for a friend's retirement party. She picked a couple and gave me free rein on the rest (whoo hoo!), which was tons of fun. Setup was pretty rushed as the room was being used for another ceremony immediately prior to hers, but I think it still looked okay.

Done Last Year For A Coworkers Retirement Had Some Major Issues With This Batch Of Bclots Of Crackingtexture Issues Plus It Got Bump
Done last year for a coworker's retirement. Had some major issues with this batch of BC...lots of cracking/texture issues (plus it got bumped into and left a big gash in the front - aaarrrggghhh!). Was fun to do the GP accents though - I recreated her ribbon rack, the flags, the AF logo and our unit patch in gumpaste and painted them by hand. It's my first attempt at this type of design, but I'd like to try it again w/ some updates.

Blood Orange Amp Pineapple Cake Layers With Peach Mango Preserves Topped With Fresh Peach And Blood Orange Slices Definitely Hit Or Mis
Blood orange & pineapple cake layers with peach-mango preserves, topped with fresh peach and blood orange slices. Definitely hit-or-miss trying to find those oranges around here, but I love using them.

Pig Roast At The Tiki Hut
This one was fun - I borrowed ideas from several CC'ers here and wanted to try a bit of everything (thanks guys!). The waterfall wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. People loved the little pig on a spit and the flip flops though. Cake was alternating orange & pineapple layers with orange rum BC. Absolutely everything was edible except the skewer for the pig. All comments welcome!

Monster Mutt
Cake was done for a coworker's son last-minute (had 2 days to do it!) so not very detailed, but I like how the spots came out. Would like to try fondant truck or a larger BC design next time.... I found out it's REALLY hard to use a nice round, fun font when piping onto choco graham cracker crumbs! Shoulda left a smooth area to write in - handwriting looks really crummy on top (har, har)! All feedback welcome. Thanks!

Golden 50Th Cake
My first cake this big (6-10-14). A lot of fun to make, just wish I had had more time to spend on the details! (PITA sweet 16 cake due the day prior.) Bottom layer is orange & pineapple cakes filled with peach mango preserves, middle is red velvet & devil's food with chocolate BC, top is carrot spice with raisins filled with cream cheese BC. Not my best BC work on the surface - lots of "trouble spots", but it got rave reviews and the family loved it, which was the most important thing. The photo cube on top has reprints of their original wedding photos which the daughter-in-law emailed to me. Kudos and constructive criticism welcome!

Shower Cake For Valentine's Day Wedding
Okay, this did double duty as my final project cake for my first Wilton class and for a friend's last-minute bridal shower request ("Oh, you're taking a cake class? Can you do a cake for me for this weekend?"). I messed up the writing and had to write thicker over it to cover the "oops" - not happy with the way that turned out, but overall I think it was okay for a first cake. BC basketweave of course and RI flowers in her favorite colors with a bit of shimmer dust. I'm just now getting the courage to post photos...sorry it took so long.

Choco & Vanilla Cupcake Wedding
First ever cupcake wedding! Dark chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with choco & vanilla BC and silver jimmies (bride didn't want anything too sparkly). Real sunflowers and gerbera daisies to match the rest of the wedding decor. I got all the way there and forgot my extra tulle for the stand. :( Everyone loved the presentation though - the caterer asked for my info for future events!
