Motorcycle Cake
I made the bottom layers from a 9x13 pan and the top from a loaf pan. i used a can of black frosting for the top layer and decorated with flames. the bottom layer has a skull-crossbones motif. on the top of the cake, i drew a road and placed a hot wheels motorcycle on top. it was a hit for my 7-year old's birthday party!

Triple-Layer White Cake With Raspberry Filling And Whipped Topping
After doing so many fondant cakes, I missed the flavor of whipped cream. Store bought raspberry filling works really well. Good consistency. My friend's baby's initials were CDJ, so I added them as decorations on the stacked block design.

Lego Birthday Cake
Made this chocolate cake for my son's 6th birthday. I mad the blocks with loaf pans. One box made 2 loaf pans. I trimmed off the rounded top of the loaf, then sandwiched them together with a layer of pre-made vanilla frosting. I used 3 boxes of cake mix. The last "block" I made, I cut in half to make the two half-blocks. I used trimmed lollipop sticks as support under the 2nd layer block. I placed the top block on a trimmed piece of cardboard for support. After a night in the fridge, the cake was beautiful for the party and no sagging at all! Used own recipe of buttercream for the frosting and frosted oreos for the bumps on the blocks. What a pain frosting oreos! Would have liked to do this cake with fondant, but my son likes the taste of buttercream better. Used gel-based food coloring so the buttercream stayed nice and stiff...not watered down. On some of the colors, I used the whole tube of food coloring per 8 oz frosting! They key to bright colors was letting the colored frosting sit for a few hours in the fridge. The whole cake was a hit! Delicious!

Yule Log With Meringue Mushrooms
2008 Yule Log. This is a sponge cake with an amaretto whipped cream filling. I also handmade the meringue mushrooms. A dusting of confectioners sugar makes a neat "snowy" effect. Also a dusting of cocoa powder on the meringue mushrooms makes a "dirt" effect. Add some real evergreen boughs and red hot "berries" for a nice holiday look.
