Last minute cake with new fondant mold. Top tier covered in fondant and bottom tier just buttercream cuz didn't have enough fondant. My friend had never had a birthday cake and was turning 24 so I made this in the morning after I found that out. I kinda messed it up trying to add sparkles to the top - looks like a kid added blush to it.
Done for a friend's son who was 9. Strawberry cake with cream cheese icing. I'm not happy with the lightning bolt but otherwise I had fun
I had a horrible time with this one -no a/c and was so humid. The ribbon cracked, the bow broke, and I couldn't get the fondant colored brown so I had to use icing. Still for all the issues, the birthday girl liked it. Forgot to add - the roses replace the bow
This cake was made for 8 year old's birthday. Got the idea and basic instructions from pic that was forwarded to me. It was credited to Karen P. of Dalton, GA and I thank her so much for the idea and instructions on the write - up. This was my first carved cake. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.
This was a last minute idea. Was going to be basket of flowers when decided to try this instead. It's only the 2nd carved cake and I had less than 24 hours from start to finish to do this. Was done for my boyfriend's daughter who turned 14.
With thanks to the many CC members for their inspiration. Made this as a joint birthday cake for my friend's parents. Butter cake with choc buttercream. Sugar cookies, butter cream flowers, and store bought pumpkin candies are the decorations. TYFL
This was for my sister - she specifically asked for "chocolate globs" for decorations. I wrote "Happy Chocolater Globs" instead of Happy Birthday cuz we're smart aleks like that in my family, LOL
Thanks so much to knel - not only for the inspiration but also for telling me how to do this - you ROCK!! I haven't made very many cakes and this was my first babyshower cake. Still working on getting everything nice and smooth
