I've got to stop taking pictures at night! The icing, dress, calla lilies, and ribbons, are all white, though the lighting makes them look oddly colored. Icing is BC, gown is MMF, flowers, pearls, and ribbon are gumpaste. This is my first attempt at a cake like this, and I really should have had a template. Thanks to everyone who made this cake before me for the inspiration. Everyone did such a nice job!
I thought this was an original idea until I searched daffodils on the site. Great minds think alike. French vanilla cake, French buttercream, lemon filling, white chocolate fondant stems, gumpaste flowers, and later I added a pink fondant ribbon with a matching gumpaste bow. I made the stamens out of angel hair pasta with cornmeal and food coloring.
This is my version of penguins (plus a couple of fish). I tried to give them individual personalities. Thanks to all the inspiring penguin makers who came before me.
These are my first gumpaste flowers. The pot is fondant and the grass is BC.
This is my second fondant cake. The bass is painted with food coloring. After I finished it, I realized I couldn't move it to a cake platter - rookie mistake!
