This was SO much fun to do! They are your basic yellow and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. The little creatures are all fondant and close to the most fun thing that I have ever made! Mario was kind of an after thought, he was going to be drawn on the board with everything else but I ended up making him from fondant too. The board in the back is just foam board air brushed.
I made this for my daughter's Kindergarten class Easter party. Needless to say a room full of 5 year old loved it. The cake is "darn good chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. All of the decorations are fondant. Peter did not come out exactly as I wanted him to, but he was still cute. I got the idea for this on CC from Florimbio.
This was for a friend of mine's little girl that turned 2. THis was my first attempt at zebra stripes and I think that it turned of cute, but I would like them to be a little thinner next time. Also, the MMF 2 that I had on the top was perfect and then it broke! I panicked and had to make another one that would not stand alone...so sad. Sorry the image is fuzzy, it was taken on my phone and me and resizing don't mix well!
This is a yellow cake with almond buttercream. The M&M on the front was done color flow style with royal icing. I used an outline that my husband drew for me and then free handed the rest. 50th birthday cake for a HUG M&M fan TFL.
I have to say a HUG thanks to jenbenjr! She gave me awesome tips on this cake and made my life SO much easier! The cake is yellow for the "bun", with buttercream tinted brown and chocolate cake and chocolate frosting for the "meat". The "fries" are sugar cookies and the "nuggets" MMF. This was SO much fun and I think that I am the proudest of this cake. Compared to any others that I have done thus far this turned out almost exactly as I wanted it to. TFL!
This was for a family Christmas party. I did not allow the bow long enough to dry...so it kinda died. In the picture there are marshmallows to hold it up a little. They still loved it. All MMF and cake was devil's food and almond buttercream. Also, it was in the box before I remembered to take the picture...so this is it and the 2 dozen cookies and were purchased with it.
How fun were these! I am so glad that I learned about color flow on this website. This was the most fun that I have ever had making this type of cookie! They are NFSC...that is the best recipe ever!
This was a free cake for a friend of mine's baby shower. I made it last minute and it was more for my own practice...but I think that it turned out cute. All MMF, cake was devil's food with almond buttercream.
This is just not the finished version...I fixed what I could to make the arm appear like part of the cake. You can see that I have never touched a guitar in my life. I could not get a great picture of the whole thing, but the arm was rice crispies covered MMF that was rolled to look like wood. This is my first attempt at something like this. I was pretty proud of it. I can see where I went wrong and what I will do different next time. But the 5 year old little girl was thrilled!
I got the idea from the turkey from this website. He is chocolate fondant...that did not turn out well but looks ok in the pic. The cake is a double layer apple cake and caramel buttercream all from this website. I have fallen in love with the website. The warning is so very accurate. I must say that looking at such superb work has made me better in the kitchen! Thanks!!!
This is the first fondant cake that I ever made. I was quite proud of it. I used the Wilton fondant that you can buy...but tastes bad. I now make my own and it tastes much better. I was quite proud of myself :)
this is a two tier cake...top smaller layer was yellow with white chocolate cream and strawberry filling...bottom was chocolate with the same filling. This was my first attempt at the gum past elephant and boy was that a lesson! There is a cute little tail on the back that you can't see in this pic.
