Practice Cake
I wanted to cover the entire cake in turquoise fondant, but it kept tearing so I had to change my design and switch to fondant panels. Since I had to take the fondant off twice, the buttercream got all lumpy and I couldn't get it super smooth again. I'm going to try, try again with the original design because I SWEAR it's gonna be cute!

25Th Anniversary Cake
This is the first cake on which I used the diamond quilting technique. The top tier was a bit testy, but I had the hang of it by the time I did the bottom tier. The silver French dragees were much easier to apply that I had originally thought. I used silver ribbon at the base of each tier for a finished look, but then I still wasn't satisfied. I began searching through my expansive collection of cake supplies when I spotted my pearl mold. Ha! That was it! The perfect way to "end" a cake. The top tier is slightly lopsided, but I just need to work on my leveling some more. TFL!

Whimsical Wedding
This is my first wedding cake, and I must say I'm not completely happy with it. I could not get the buttercream edges completely smooth to save my life, and it really does affect the outcome of the cake. I do pretty well with fondant, and though I'm tempted to only work in that medium, I know I have to get better at buttercream. This cake is for a friend who's on a super-tight budget, and I really hope she likes it.

Tiffany Box Cake
My first time doing a square cake and gum paste stiletto. The pearls are painted silver to mock Tiffany's silver ball bracelet. I added the "th" after the "40" to make it read "40th", but i forgot to take a picture before the cake was delivered. I think this was okay for my first try, but I will continue to work to make it better.

Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my sis-in-law's bday. It was soooo much work! I can truly appreciate why cake artists charge what they do for cakes. The top tier was yellow with chocolate mousse filling, the middle was white with strawberry cream filling, and the bottom was chocolate with cookies and cream filling. Also, I made the cake topper myself. TFL!

Daisy Cake
I made this cake while visiting a friend in Ohio. I had none of my equipment and had to make do with what she had (i.e. not stand mixer, icing spatulas, large rolling pin, etc.) I think I pulled it off rather nicely. Made MMF, bought some red icing coloring and daisy cutters from Michael's and performed some magic. Simple cake, but still cute.

Whimsical Birthday Cake For Kim
I got the idea for this cake from another CC member (thank you, merissa!). This is my first time working with IMBC and I think the finish came out pretty good. The crappy bow was a pain in my butt! I made the loops the night before with a fondant/tylose combo per suggestions from other CCers. They were difficult to glue to the cake because they were hard as rocks! Yeah, I should have seen that one coming. Also, "Kim" is off-center because the bow loops prevented me from sticking straws in the right places. This is also my first cake with fondant accents. TFL!
