First, I did NOT make the cake. I only made the flowers that went on here. All gumpaste. Cake was done in buttercream by my good and talented friend Dorie Kinney. She airbrushed the cake in copper, but the pic still came out a little orange.

I used Kathy Scott's method of making petit fours. Really easy and pretty fast. It uses a chocolate mold, cutter and silicon mold for the floral tops.
This is a bas relief pixie with royal icing lace butterflies around the eds.
This is all gingerbread with no supports inside. People, cuckoo are fondant, clock and pinecones are royal icing. I made this a few years ago for a competition. But I used a strong gingerbread recipe that some people have asked for. Just wanted to show it holds up (I still have this).
I did this cake for the upcoming ACD issue. Run sugar top and bottom collars and a different run sugar motif on each side. Sorry you can't see them. I did a candy cane, ornaments and a pair of sleigh bells. But the candy canes were in the teaser in the back of the current issue.

Another cake my friend Dorie made. I made the gumpaste orchids, cymbidium, cattleya, moth. I didn't care for the colors but it was up to the bride. The groom evidently grew orchids for sale.
This is the other cake we made in the lambeth class I took. 250 violets, all royal icing.
The person taking the picture wanted it to look like a mother was reaching for the baby, that's why there are hands in there. This was done all with one tip, twinkies for arms and legs and a chocolate mold for the face.

I didn't actually make the cake, only the gumpaste cherry blossoms. I wish the chef had done the stems thinner, to match more how I had the wires. This design was originally done in a bridal magazine for a 2 layer cake but I don't know which one.
This Bas Relief is done with gumpaste/fondant mix. The bamboo is gumpaste. Quite a bit of painting on sugar too
