The base of this cake (wilton wonder mold ontop of 8" round) was covered in MMF, Hello Kitty's head is BC (wilton ball mold, carved into an oval), all accents are in MMF. This cake was a challenge -- I originally had her face covered in MMF, but couldn't get it nice and smooth on the bottom. So off came the MMF and I used the BC instead. It's hard to come up with a modern design for clients with modern taste. This cake was for a baby shower who's host didn't want anything "baby-ish" -- this cake was 3 layers, covered in white MMF and then MMF dots. The baby's first initial is also cut out of fondant.
This cake is all carved out of pound cake, covered in BC with MMF accents.
This cake was for a little girl's halloween birthday party. She wanted princesses but the mom wanted pumpkins, so this is cinderella right after her carriage turns back into a pumpkin. The pumpkin is from wilton's ball pan, the mice are carved cupcakes, and the decoration (wheels, flowers, etc) are gumpaste and MMF.
I made this cake for my daugter's last day of preschool. Each child had their own little gumpaste self to eat. They thought it was about the best thing ever.
The final cake included the Disney princesses, this pic was taken before they were added. The towers were stacked cupcakes and the cake is covered in MMF.
Thanks to other cake central bakers for tips on doing the sugar bottles, this cake looked completely realistic. The entire cake was edible, most people thought it was real beer bottles stuck into a cake.
This was my first firetruck cake. The cake is frosted in BC (customer's request over MMF). All detail is in MMF except the ladder which is made of melted white chocolate. All of the "chrome" is grey MMF painted w/ silver pearl dust.
