A fun cake to make once I realised I only had to model partial figures because the 'water' would be hiding the rest. They did have eyes and smiles but forgot to use closeup on camera.
I made this cake about 3 years ago for a young ballet student - the base cake was a 14 inch oval fruit cake.
for an 80th birthday cake - had the edible photos done and was going to do informal set of memorabilia but cake turned out more formal due to lack of other ideas/relevant artefacts being forthcoming! Ended up making a photo frame instead, which added some height to the cake as well.
Leaving cake for young office colleague. Gumpaste daisies. Had to be simple as all made in one evening/early hours of morning.
Fondant with RI, not my favourite cake by any means and.... I was told by my mum there would only be about 20 guests attending - horrified to learn the cake was sliced to serve about 45.... oh well.
