Fall Royal Purple
Wedding cake for a good friend...top and bottom layer were purple velvet with a cream cheese mousse filling, middle layer was chocolate with a cherry vanilla mousse filling. Detailing cut using my cricut machine. Tiers were 8-12-16.
My first real Cricut success! Cake is all vanilla with cheesecake mousse filling. Fondant accents cut with my Cricut machine. Middle layer quilted with the triple diamond cutter-also my first quilting experience!!
Made for my nephew's birthday and it was a huge hit! Volcano was chocolate cake and base was vanilla. Covered in fondant, water and lava made from colored piping gel, palm trees and tiny flowers were gumpaste. The "eruption" was dry ice.
My first tiered cake...made for my nephew's birthday. The bottom 2 layers are covered and decorated with fondant. The top layer was his "smash cake," so it was done in buttercream. The figurines were store-bought (not my choice!).
For some co-worker's birthdays. The stag was hand-painted with food coloring. All the rest of the decorations were homemade MMF. My piping skills are still a little lacking...working on it:)
I was asked by my local NBC affiliate station to make a Jay Leno cake in celebration of his new show. The cake was chocolate, covered in fondant. The caricature was drawn by my husband, then scanned and printed on edible paper. The whole news crew loved it, and it even made it on the air!
covered and decorated in MMF. Turquoise detailing painted with silver pearl dust. It was MEGA hot outside (100+ degrees), so everything started melting, hence the tilting :) Oh well...the mother loved it, and that's really all that counts, right??
chocolate cake covered in chocolate MMF for my father in law's birthday. Diamonds are MMF and white stitching is buttercream icing.
Macker's Mended Heart
My sister in law enlisted me to create this for a heart-shaped dessert contest at a summer picnic for family with children born with heart defects. My first award-winning cake took home the prize of "Most Creative." This cake is very special to me because of what it represents. This was for my brother's birthday. Chocolate cake covered in chocolate ganache, which I added some black food coloring to make it darker. All the "icons" are fondant. I also took a stab at free-hand piping, which I need a LOT more practice at!
I made this for my mother-in-law's 61st birthday. The pink is MMF-which I made on my own. The flowers are also MMF
This was a cake my brother requested from me last minute. Covered in fondant. Batman emblem was cut free-hand by my extremely talented, batman-loving husband!
Cake covered in MMF-which I made myself. It is now my favorite, I don't think I will go back! The lego guys are gumpaste.
Dark chocolate cupcakes with swiss buttercream (my first attempt, and new favorite). The hearts were made from dark chocolate with cinnamon and a little vegetable oil to keep them shiny.
Ty's Death Star
This cake was a huge learning experience for me. Marble cake and rice krispies covered in fondant and luster dust. Many things I would do different if I had to make a 3d cake like this again!
Little Square Cake
This was my first square cake, made for my sister-in-law's birthday. Decorations are fondant and the piping is chocolate buttercream. I am still learning, but pretty happy with the way this turned out.
Sushi Birthday Cake
This was my first sculpting cake. The sushi was made from rice cereal treats covered with buttercream, sugar sprinkles, and fondant. The wasabi and ginger also fondant. The soy sauce was chocolate syrup in a fondant bowl. Cake was chocolate, covered in a chocolate hazelnut buttercream. I am still working on my frosting technique.
