Melinda's Wedding Cake
My good friends got married in Tahoe and asked me to make the cake!! I was so honored and excited. The restaurant charged per slice of cake, however, they didn't charge to have cupcakes. So we decided to make the two tiers of cupcakes and a top tier a round cake for the bride and groom to cut into and feed to one another. She wanted something simple, green, and whimsical. This is what we ended up with. They loved it, so I loved it too!!!!

Aiden's Birthday
I was in charge of making my nephews 7th birthday cake, which I of course love to do!! However, he wanted Sponge Bob, I really didn't want to make a Sponge Bob cake, so I convinced him to let me make this one. I had just seen the Ace of Cakes episode when Duff makes a gumball machine and I was itching to try it. I was really happy with the way it turned out. All the kids....and adults at the party thought it really was a gumball machine. So I would say it was a success!!!! Most important though was that my nephew absolutely loved it, and was glad I didn't let him have a Sponge Bob cake!!!! He and his cake were a hit with his friends from school!!! :-)

Tinkerbell
This cake did not turn out like I planned. This was the first time I had ever air brushed a cake. As I say, everytime I make a cake I learn something new. This was definitely a learning cake!! It was for my nieces 8th birthday and I did follow her VERY SPECIFIC directions to the T!! She knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to tell you exactly what that is.....at 8:) She was thrilled with the way it turned out and that is all that matters!!!!

Rifle
I hated this cake....from start to finish it was a nightmare. I made if for my best friends brohters birthday. He is a mans man who loves to hunt. This was my very first attempt at carving anything!! I made several mistakes and learned sooooooooo much as I went through the process of this cake! I was so glad when they came to pick it up :) But the birthday boy loved it and of course told me I was nuts for being so critical!!!! Can't help it :-)

The Purse
Oh my goodness.....this was scary!!! I have a very good friend who loves the name brand things....purses, shoes, clothes, you name it! I just had to make her a purse cake for her birthday!! However, when I started carving all I could thing was, "There is cake everywhere and this thing does not look like a purse." But as everyone said it would, the more details I started putting onto the cake the more and more the cake came to life!! It was a huge hit, my friends at the birthday party could not believe it was a real cake :) My friend Michelle didn't want to cut into it, she wanted to keep it forever!!!

Polka Dots
Has anyone seen the movie......Because I Said So??? That movie is where my inspiration for this cake came from. This is the wedding cake at the end of the movie....however mine is a much smaller scale :) This was only my second attempt at cake decorating and I was thrilled at the results. I did as always learn new things for this type of cake in the future!!! I just love this cake, I think it is simple and clean and elegant!! One of my favs!!!!

They had a big house party with friends and family and nobody could believe that it was a cake that I made from my home :) I LOVED this cake!! As did my friend and her daughter which made me so happy cause they are very particular :)

Jack
Anyone who is a fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas knows Jack :) My 15 year old nephew asked me to make this cake for the Halloween party in one of his classes. It was a huge hit...the high school kids loved it!! I definitely made my nephews day....which is not easy with a 15 year old freshman boy :)

2 Of 2 Of Gigi's B-Day Cake
I absolutely loved the way this waterfall turned out. As well as the flowers :) I was winging it but I was very happy with my results. I made these cakes for a Hawaiian theme birthday cake for my very best friend. She was in tears when I brought it in....yeah to success :) I want to try something like this again!!!

1 Of 2 Of Gigi's B-Day Cake
This cake was originally supposed to be a 3 tiered cake (see 2 of 2 of Gigi's b-day cake). However this was my first attempt at 3 tiers and I didn't put enough support in the bottom so the whole thing started to sag. So I removed the top two tiers and improvised with the design of my now...two cakes :) I ended up loving the cakes very much. My original plans did change somewhat but that is what happens with the joys of cake decorating :) I did try to get the palm tree to stand up and I could not figure it out for the life of me!!! If anyone reads this and has any suggestions for my future endeavors with palm trees.....advice is welcome :)

Chicago Bears
Okay this cake was a nightmare for me :) This is the first cake I "sold" to anyone, as well as the first cake that was a replica of something. The office manager in my friends office asked me to make this for her boyfriends birthday.....obviously a HUGE Chicago Bears fan :) She gave me a picture of what she wanted and I had to replicate that picture. I had such a hard time with that because I was so used to always having a bit of creative freedom with my cakes. I made few mistakes and was completely over critical.....but in the end I did it. She was happy and her boyfriend LOVED it!!! He didn't want his friends and family to cut into it!! So win win I guess :)

Aunt Pami's 55Th B-Day Cake
I saw a cake in a book that I really liked. the flowers weren't flush with the cake the top half of the flowers stick off the top of the cake. I was hoping to get more flowers on it but the flowers I ended up making were a bit too big. But the effect still worked and I love the colors and the way it all turned out.
