Double Heart Cake
I've done this same cake several times now with changes to the flowers and/or colors. It's a favorite choice for Bridal showers and informal wedding receptions. The cakes are usually 2 different flavors (Bride's favorite and the Groom's). The white on the Groom's cake, the Bride's dress straps and the flowers are all fondant. The Groom's button's are chocolate covered coffee beans. I use Wilton's largest and second largest heart pans for the cakes and cut away some of the Groom to fit the Bride in.

Actors Marry In A Theater
Two of my friends, both actors, got married in a theater. The "ceremony" went off as if it were David Letterman's show, complete with a trip out into the audience for a trivia segment and a top ten list for why the couple should finally get married. The front of the cake was a little more traditional and based on the invitations which were brightly colored and looked like the front of the theater. The back of the cake represented the "backstage" area with all the props and even a theater ghost. It was a hoot to make! Everything that was visible was edible, a combination of molded candy, fondant, and 3 pieces of purchased candy.

Little Einsteins' Rocket
When my son was four, everything was Little Einsteins, so he naturally wanted his cake to be as well. This is Rocket, flying through the sky. I used 2 of Wilton's oval pans (the smallest and next to the largest) for the body and top of Rocket, which I stacked and then shaved away the top oval until it had the right curvature. The engines and fins on the sides are shaped from a Sara Lee pound cake. Those cakes have a great, solid texture that's perfect when you need to sculpt a special shape. Since they come frozen, you can start cutting them right out of the freezer. Wooden skewers hold the fins and the engines in place.

Cat-In-The-Hat Cupcakes
The theater my husband works for was having a reading of Dr. Suess stories after their production of "Suessical" and asked if I could make some cupcakes that would fit the theme. I used a large star tip for a ruffled effect on the cupcakes. Each 'hat' is a single candy wafer (the kind used for melting and molding) and 2 mini marshmallows dipped halfway in red melted candy and stacked. The Cat's hat is always crooked, so the more off-center the hat is, the better.

Cello Cake
I was asked to make a cello cake for a teenage girl who loves "Ace Of Cakes". That meant it had to be elaborate! The body of the cello and the surrounding packages are all edible and covered in fondant. My husband made a base and neck for me that I could cover in fondant. No strings, though. Chickened out! Anyone have fool-proof, edible strings?

Frightened Pumpkin
I started out by making skeleton fingers out of fondant several days ahead so they would have time to dry. The pumpkins are made from mini bundt cakes for the small ones and a larger cake made from a 'ball pan'. I carved the eyes, mouth, and side indentions into the ball cake, frosted all the pumpkins and covered them all with fondant. The large stem, the vines, and the leaves are also made from fondant. The small stems are made from Tootsie Rolls.
