What child wouldn't love bears join him/her at their birthday party? Patchwork cutters from the Bear Picnic Set were used to create this framed picture on top of a chocolate cake covered with buttercream frosting and then covered with chocolate fondant. Details were painted with gel colors in both full-strength and watered down with alcohol.
Designed for an older woman, this vanilla cake is covered with strawberry buttercream frosting. Royal icing was used to create the half-cake cornelli lace look. Yellow/orange/gold hydrangea flowers and a gumpaste "garden" top the cake and one side.
One of my colleague's little one is just around the corner. This cake was made using a teal-colored fondant with a painted patchwork horse on top. A patchwork quilting embosser was impressed into the side of the cake and painted with a mixture of luster dust and alcohol.

Pete's mother has Red Hat Society items so I thought it'd be fun to do a reverse on the famous fashion-ware. Here the hat was covered in purple fondant and the button on top and the ribbon were red. Sunflowers flank the hat.
This gum paste teddy bear sits atop a fondant-covered cake that has been painted with gel colors and disco dust. The pond was painted with gel colors, as well, and the ice blocks are made of gum paste.
A paisely shaped lemon cake was filled with lemon curd and frosted with lemon-colored buttercream. Fondarific fondant lemon was used to cut out "60"s to cover the top and sides of the cake. White gum paste roses were placed on top and in the crook of the cake.
This cake was covered with yellow fondant and then a fabric roller was embossed on the sides and top to give it a leathery look. PME decorative scroll cutters were used to make the plaques which surrounded the cake and placed on top. Each plaque was painted with a mixture of alcohol and luster dusts to give a sense of fall colors. This cake took 3rd place in the professional division at the Central Florida Fair.
This miniature cake was made out of 3", 4", & 5" tiers. Decorative work was dusted with white sparkle dust. This cake took 2nd place in the professional division at the Central Florida Fair.

Inspired by the directions for the upcoming NCACS wedding cake competition, this cake is covered in a pale green fondant. The flowers are gum paste yellow daisies and peach roses. Patchwork cutters were used to make the bridal couple and the bells. Chocolate modeling clay is used to make the tree bark on the columns. This cake won third place in the professional division at the Central Florida Fair.
Inspired by Elizabeth Monroe's dress on display at the Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, this cake won third place in the professional category at the Central Florida Fair.
