my mom and i made my wedding cake. it's lemon WASC and chocolate WASC on alternating tiers, with fondant accents and buttercream drop flowers. i was up till three in the morning the night before the wedding but i wouldn't trade sleep for the fun i had with my mom. and bless good camera angles because this cake had some bulges after the tiers were stacked. photo by Larry Scott Photography.
This cake was vanilla WASC with banana cream filling, frosted with buttercream with fondant and gumpaste accents. My bottom tier was shorter than expected so I tried to drape some leftover green fondant... should have left the plastic cake plate showing (but i guess that's what the learning process is) The gumpastes roses on the top tier--cute but i should have left them off until last minute because during the hour drive, they started to pull the frosting away from the cake. It still tasted good, though. :) Thanks for looking!
This is one of the first cakes I have made for someone other than family. A co-worker/friend's son's birthday. I was very self conscious about it, but all her family's compliments made me feel better. When they told her how much they liked it, they didn't know the person who did it was sitting near them. It has encouraged me to do more for more people.
