Time To Relax
First I want to thank the following CC users: AmyBeth, MRaz, LisaR64 & Coral3. These are the spa cakes I studied before attempting my first one. I made this 9x13" Mounds Bar Cake with coconut filling, chocolate ganache and White chocolate fondant for a lady who had turned 50 and just received another degree in Education. Her girlfriends were taking her away for the weekend and I made this cake for them to enjoy. For professionals, this is just another spa cake but for me as a hobbyist, this was a major undertaking but is probably my favorite of all I've made. TFL

Doc's 50Th Birthday
11 x 15 inch chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and buttercream between the layers; ganache then white chocolate fondant completed the cake. First attempt at shirt and tie; had to remake tie the day before because one made earlier would not fit under stiff gumpaste collar. Made a placket and buttons under the tie which the nurses loved when they removed the tie to begin cutting the cake.

Feminine Graduation Cake
Each year our church honors the high school graduates with a reception. This year we only had two precious young ladies graduating so I wanted to make something really pretty and feminine and this is what I came up with. It is 2 14" square Devil's Food cakes with cookies and cream filling and pink buttercream frosting. The grad cap is pound cake with white chocolate fondant (first time making that) and the roses and leaves are gumpaste as is the diploma. I just wired the roses and leaves and laid the branches on top ot the crusted cake. They were delighted to get to take them home as a keepsake.

Amelia Bedelia Book Cake
My older granddaughter enjoys the antics of Amelia Bedelia so I made this cake for her 5th birthday. It is one layer chocolate and one vanilla both 9x13 filled with cookies and cream and shaped to look like a book. Used buttercream frosting and cut fondant pieces for the pictures. I'll be shipping this UPS from GA to WV so I hope it arrives in good shaped. Thanks for looking.

40Th Birthday; Medical Theme
Made for husband's Physician's Assistant, JASON, on his 40th birthday. I can see now that the stethoscope looks more like a Y than a J but he was appreciative of the effort. Cake was Rich Buttermilk Devil's food with Peanut butter buttercream filling and buttercream frosting; medical supplies and pills stamped with 40 made of fondant with Tylose added.

Big, Bold, Blue & Purple Butterfly Cake
12-inch Buttermilk Devil's Food Cake with Buttercream filling and frosting. Made for 12 year old who requested a purple and blue butterfly cake that you could see a mile away. I used fondant for the butterflies and flowers and used some pink, yellow and green to make it a bit brighter. Thanks to CC users for inspiration for design and the border. TFL

3D Train Cake
Wilton's Choo Choo 3D Train cake on a 2-layer Devil's Food Cake with Oreo filling. Wish the train trains showed up more. After covering a board with black frosting I marblized and texturized fondant for a wood grain look and cut the planks for the track, then made the rails out of gray fondant. Since the sides were a good 4 inches high, I thought they looked too plain just white, so I added the dots and liked it much better. TFL

Choo-Choo; Alyssa Is 2
Two year old granddaughter wanted a train cake for her birthday. She was born on her Mother's birthday so I added a tunnel and message for her. Sent UPS from GA to PA in styrofoam lined box with dry ice under the cake which I froze overnight before shipping. Arrived two days later in great shape. Thanks to others who posted here for all the good ideas.

Western Sweet Sixteen
Thanks to all the western themed cakes posted here, I was able to make this for a friend. Western theme is outside my comfort zone but the birthday girl and her mother seemed to like the cake. Top tier is vanilla, bottom is buttermilk devil's food with cookies and cream filling. All frosting is French Vanilla buttercream and the accents are fondant. It is supposed to look like jeans and a western shirt. TFL

Cristie's Wedding Cake
This is a vanilla cake with lemon, peach and raspberry filling in the different tiers. I've never made a cake like this before; the bride brought a picture of her friend's cake which she had made herself and asked me to make it similar but use irises and daisies. I used a tip 2D to give the lacey textured look and made my first irises and first wired daisies. Since this is only my second wedding cake, I was pretty well pleased with the results. Each cake is a new learning opportunity for me and I thoroughly enjoy it. TFL

My First Gumpaste Iris
I used a DVD by Nicholas Lodge to make this iris for a wedding cake. I was very pleased and ended up making a total of 7 for a wedding cake. I did get a little faster as I went but each one still took me an average of 2 1/2 hours by the time I cut, wired, shaped, put together and dusted with petal dust. A lot of fun but also a lot of work. TFL

Welcome Baby Mitchell
Another onesie cake but this one for a boy using the nursery colors: pale yellow, khaki, navy, and sage green. The Dad drives a dump truck so I tried to make one for the onesie. The cake is vanilla and chocolate with cookies & cream filling and buttercream frosting with fondant accents. TFL

A Tribute To A Favorite Teacher Who Is Retiring After 38 Yrs.
I had the privilege of making this cake for a wonderful lady who taught my son in kindergarten and 3rd grade. She has taught at our Christian school for the last 13 years and rewarded good behavior with stuffed animals (buddies) to sit on their desk and M&Ms. So, I tired to make a cake to look like her desk: buddies in a basket, a Bible that shows her love of children, a pencil holder (similar to one on her desk), a tissue box, a name plate (she always made these for her students) and a vase of flowers because she really is a favorite and will be missed. Thanks to Jennifer Dontz for the information on the sugar vase which I used for the vase and pencil holders. This was so much fun to make and brought back so many wonderful memories. Thanks for looking.

Fun To Learn
This is my version of a cake posted by "Launa" and personalized for a friend's sister-in-law who was graduating from UGA and planning to teach special needs students. I never would have come up with this on my own so I am very thankful for this website. I had a lot of fun learning to make notebook paper and all the school "essentials" without cutters! Thanks for looking.

Cappuccino Cake
Made this cake using BeanCountingBaker's recipe on this site and the scrolls designed by Karennak in the Sketches album. Everyone liked the design and the taste. My son and my brother have both requested this recipe for their birthday, but son says he reserves privilege of changing his mind since his birthday isn't until October and he expects lots more experimenting in the mean time. Thanks for looking. Helpful comments appreciated.
