This cake was really for a baby shower, but resembled a Mother's Day cake more. It was designed to match tulip bedding for the nursery. BC covered with fondant decor & board. The board has impressed tulips. Top tier 6.5 inches & bottom 3.5. Inspiration came from It's a Piece of Cake's flickr photo. Her's is 3 tier with purple & green. I think she's also a CC member.
This is actually a HS graduation cake, but I thought it favored a wedding cake more. The bottom tier is studded with custom-made, rose swarovski crystal flowers. The 2nd & 3rd tier have crystal centered blossoms. The topper & branches are also s. crystal. The cake & base board was covered with fondant and airbrushed with crystal color pearl. The base on ea. tier is wrapped with satin ribbon. There's a "2010" on on the base board with crystal flower centers in zeros. The cake sparkled a lot more in person!
Inspiration from cdent's awesome cake & sugar bottle forums on CC. Sugar bottles (flavored with root beer) & ice. This cake was almost 10 inches tall made up of 2, 12 inch rounds & weighed a ton.
