Hooray For Hollywood Birthday!
A movie bash birthday for an 11-year-old girl - So much fun! Cinnamon Bun cake with sticky-bun creamcheese icing filling and MFF, popcorn/tickets/icons all from fondant. She's having her friends come over to watch movies tomorrow, and squealed most charmingly when she saw the cake :). Thanks for looking!

Lego Indiana Jones
I actually just realized my kids mispronounce Indiana Jones "JimmyJohn Jones" ... ah, youth ;). So this was for our little friend's 6th birthday ... his mom swears she doesn't know where he got his unnatural obsession with Indy's Crystal Skull, but he eats/dreams/breathes it :). Fun to do! Bottom tier is a straight-up WASC with Raspberry danish filling (Can anyone say "easy"?) per the birthday boy's request, and the top two tiers are dark fudge cake with raspberry -semisweet chocolate ganache filling .... yum! :) MFF, gumpaste Indy and topper. Thanks for looking!

Shimmery Poinsettia Gift Box
My first double-barrel cake! Learned So very much! Also my first brush embroidery ... had a blast with this one. Top half of the cake is butter rum with eggnog white truffle filling, bottom half is gingerbread cake with white chocolate-lemon filling ... yum! Michele Foster's fondant. I'm disappointed the bow doesn't look more shimmery in the picture ... it does have a pearl finish in person. I made this cake for my dad's office party. Thanks to all you wonderful CCers for your tips on brush embroidery and tall tiers! :) TFL!

Henna Yoga Cake.
I had so much trouble with this one! When I painted the cake, there seemed to be so much constant soaking of the fondant that it messed with the texture completely ... anyhow! For a friend of ours who is a Yoga instructor. The bottom tier is gingerbread and eggnog filling; middle tier is butter pecan cake with praline filling, and top tier is butter pecan cake with amaretto filling. The "henna" bird and other art was freehanded (will NEVER do it again! :) ), and all of the "lotus petals" around the sides have different yoga poses on them, all painted on freehand. The back has the birthday girl's name painted on the back petals: "T" on the top tier, "I" on the middle, "A" on the bottom - you can see them on the back view. Thanks for looking!!

Mad Science Cake ...
This cake was for a 12-year-old boy (ALL boy!) who is a huge science buff. Inspired by several of the CC cakes, and particular thanks to prterrell for the "frog dissection" idea ... too much fun to make!! Dark Chocolate Fudge cake with chocolate ganache filling alternating with banana cheesecake, and a dark chocolate ganache coat under the MFF. SUCH a blast!

Pink And Brown Baby Shower Cake.
A total take-off of pinkcakebox's cake, but it was the picture my friend wanted for her baby shower. Bottom cake is WASC with raspberry cheesecake filling and a coat of buttercream under the fondant; top tier is dark chocolate fudge with raspberry-chocolate cream cheese filling and a coat of dark chocolate ganache under MFF. I've been liking my fillings more and more lately! :) Thanks for looking!

Lumpy Pumpkin Birthday Cake
This was for a close friends with a Halloween birthday. Her parents both passed away recently (in the last couple of years), and her mom used to make her pumpkin cheesecake for her birthday. I made a variant on that: alternating layers pumpkin spice cake and chocolate espresso cake, with alternating fillings of pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate ganache. MFF details. So much fun! I was a little unsure, since I didn't want to overstep my boundaries by trying to copy what her mom did for her every birthdya. But she liked it that I remembered what she'd told me about her mom, and it actually went over really well. Thanks for looking!

For The Littles Sports Freak ...
A close friend of mine has a little munchkin who's turning one, so I made him this cake with a little smash cake at the top. Dad is a coach, so I thought it would be great. It was fraught with far more problems than it should have been, considering how straightforward a cake it was going to be, the most prominent of which was the soccer ball cut-out shapes ... but it's done, and all good, and I'm happy to be done. Cinnamon roll football and baseball cake with sticky icing filling, and smores soccer ball (graham cracker cake, marshmallow filling, chocolate ganache). MFF, all details fondant. Thanks for looking!

Frankie And The Mummy
My version of this design. Not sure who the original creator was, but the most recent version I've seen is by CristyinMiami. Pumpkin spice cake with pumpkin cheesecake filling and chocolate ganache crumbcoat, MFF with fondant details. So much fun (and so easy and forgiving!) to do! Thanks for looking!

Fairytale Princess Land
This was for my daughter's 4th birthday party today. Strawberry cake with white chocolate truffle filling for the top two tiers, and white chocolate cake with maple cheesecake filling for the bottom tier, with MFF and fondant details. She wanted a Disney Princess cake (and was very particular about their hair all being just right), though I barely had time to finish the last few princesses, the flying carpet, and the pumpkin carriage! Still, my favorite thing to do on the cake was Flounder :). Thanks to Ashley Howard for inspiration with the wave motif, though it doesn't do her waves justice. Thanks for looking!

Margarita Glass Cake
Frustratingly enough, the birthday girl did not want the cake to be margarita-flavored, which would have been so much fun! :) ... but she wanted a prominent margarita featured on the cake. So this was my first experience with poured sugar! I made the stem and base transparent, then colored the glass itself, and had a heckuva time attaching the glass itself to the stem due to the horrible humidity (hadn't rained in weeks and weeks, until yesterday!!!) ... used fondant to make it look soft and chunky like a frozen margarita. So! Cherry WASC with cherry cheesecake filling (doing a lot of cheesecake filling lately!), MFF and chocolate fondant, with fondant and gumpaste details. Don't know that I'll be doing poured sugar anytime other than mid summer again ;) ... Thanks for looking!

"sabrina" Coach Bag
A friend of ours has a 15-year-old daughter who is having her birthday today. Last year, this beautiful young girl had a hard time with numerous medical issues, and wasn't able to celebrate her birthday. This year, her mom wanted to celebrate it "in style"! The girl is in love with the "Sabrina" Coach satchel, and that was what we did. Macsmom's wonderful Hot chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, milk chocolate and peanut butter chips between the layers, and chocolate ganache over it all, with chocolate MMF and gumpaste details. I had another (quite troublesome!) fairy cake I was making for today (posted in the forums about the stinking thing!), and so neglected this one until yesterday ... so I was quite relieved that it turned out in the end! :) Thanks for looking!

Fairy Cake.
This was a cake for the little daughter of a former teacher of mine. She's been talking about "butterfly fairies", with butterfly wings, so this is what we came up with. Three tiers (tree is cake); chocolate fudge WASC variant, with alternating layers of a no-bake chocolate cheesecake filling and banana cream; banana buttercream, then bittersweet chocolate ganache, and fondant finish. Gumpaste everything else. Fairies (and their wings) were a pain in the neck!!!! So glad this cake is done! :) Thanks for looking!

Hello Kitty Garden Cake
This cake was for a friend's 3-year-old little girl ... she didn't know if she wanted a Hello Kitty party or a butterfly party, so we gave her both. Idea based loosely on didi5's beautiful cake, though once I started playing with it, several things did change (plus, I had no plastic Kitty for the top, so had to make it out of gumpaste :) ). I was originally going to use Duff roses, but then started making the other petal motifs (the border on the top tier is petals, the leaves coming out of the bottom tier, etc) and decided I didn't need to roses after all. Pink champagne cake (the smell in the house was heavenly!) with cheesecake filling, and vanilla-almond buttercream under MFF. Hello Kitty and 3-D butterflies out of gumpaste, leaves and petals all out of fondant, painted with luster dust. Thanks for your comments!

Green Zebra Cake ...
These have gotten so popular, I know I've seen several green zebra cakes on CC just today! But my friend was so excited to do a fun combination like zebra print with her lime green for her daughter-in-law-to-be's shower. WASC cake with a fantabulous no-bake raspberry cheesecake filling I've been working on, and MFF. Thanks for peeking!

50Th Anniversary Garden Cake
This anniversary cake was for my friend's grandparents. They never had an actual wedding cake, and we wanted to do something special for them (without trying to give them a wedding cake per se). They are huge nature/garden buffs, so we thought it would be nice to do a little scene from their garden. Lemon chiffon cake with lemon mousse filling, faint lemon buttercream, and MFF. Gumpaste details, buttercream and royal icing piping, and gel color painting details for the grass (thanks to Fairytale for her wonderful tips and inspiration). Thanks for looking! :)

30Th Birthday Cake For A Golf Aficionado.
Threw this one together rather quickly ... big thanks to jyllbug for the inspiration from her fantastic cake. WASC cake with white chocolate-cheesecake truffle filling and a layer of strawberry glaze, white chocolate buttercream, and MFF. Thanks for looking!

Turquoise 60Th Birthday Cake
This was my first bigger cake, made for a family friend turning 60. She was expecting 120+ people, and I offered to make the cake ... thanks to Ccers for your words of wisdom! Bottom tier is WASC with cheesecake filling and raspberry glaze, middle tier WASC with amaretto cheesecake filling, top tier WASC with cherry cheesecake filling. MFF with royal icing piping, silver dragees and gumpaste blossoms/bow. The turquoise matched her invitations ... not my choice of colors, perhaps, but fit her party perfectly. Thanks for your comments! :)

Pink Zebra Bachelorette Party Cake.
I know, I know, this cake had been done to death :) ... but my friend literally described exactly what she wanted (after seeing a cake like this at someone else's party), and I found many similar cakes on CC, so that's what she got! :) It's a fun cake, nonetheless! Dark fudge cake with a peanut-butter and chocolate pudding filling, and scattered milk chocolate and peanut butter chips between each torted layer. Peanut butter buttercream, and MFF. Swirled royal icing covering the cakeboard. Gumpaste bow. Thanks for looking!

"come Inside, It's Fun Inside!"
I made this cake for my youngest munchkin's second birthday a few days ago ... so much fun to do! All white chocolate macadamia (with a WASC base), with white chocolate filling, and MFF. Details all in gumpaste, except for the gloved hand, which is RKT covered in fondant. I actually mistakenly baked a 10in and a 12in for the bottom tier instead of two 10in, and then had to cut the stinking thing ... all's well that ends well! :) Thanks for looking!

The Last Of My Three Star Wars Series Cakes!
For my little guy's sixth birthday, a Star Wars-themed party - also made Yoda and Darth Vader. This is cinnamon-apple cake with butterscotch filling and butterscotch buttercream, and a fondant hood with cocoa rubbed on for texture. Thanks to Promeegirl for all her help! Eyes, nose and mouth are painted with extra black for a little shine, and butterscotch chips around the base, royal icing cakeboard. Thanks for looking!!

Darthvader.jpg
For my little boy's sixth birthday. Also made an Ewok and a Yoda (take a look in my pics!). Darth Vader was a chocolate oreo cake with a cookies-and-cream filling. Thanks to BakingGirl for her tips!!! Chocolate MFF for the details, and royal icing for the cakeboard ... actually the last of the three cakes I finished, and the one I'm least happy with, but my little guys likes it, so I'm satisfied :). Thanks for looking!

Yummy Cake I Baked, Mmmmmm!
My little boy turned six, and we had a Star Wars themed party. I'm also posting a Darth Vader and an Ewok cake, so take a look! This Yoda was banana cake with a scratch caramel filling and caramel buttercream, with MFF ... SO tasty!!! All details MFF and a little gumpaste, and cakeboard done in royal icing. Thanks for looking!

Easter Baby.
The request was to have this baby shower cake be pink and green and yellow ... and that was it. Lo and behold, I tucked my daughter in, and saw her comforter in those exact colors, so promptly tore it off and took it downstairs with me to copy. So all angles of the cake were different, and I wish there were a better way of showing them ... but here we go :). Dark chocolate fudge cake, with peanut butter buttercream, and peanut butter/chocolate pudding filling. Filling was nice and thick, very rich, and I scattered milk chocolate and peanut butter chips over it between each layer, which went over pretty well :). All MFF. As it turned out, my friend (who even requested the flavor!) forgot it was Passover, and her husband wouldn't be able to have the chocolate cake! I felt bad, but they were able to take the whole top tier home with them for Monday. Thanks for looking!
