Tiffany's Baby Shower
Thank you so much to all who replied ot my urgent cry for help when I couldn't get the cornstarch off the chocolate fondant, especially Frankyola who provided the tip on using Crisco. Simple chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream covered with chocolate fondant and royal icing piping. Piping design inspired by Mich Turner's Couture Confetti design from the Wedding Cakes book. TFL!

Black Circles On White
This is a cake I made for a friend's black tie wine tasting fundraiser. It was delicious - chocolate with vanilla buttercream. I sooooo wanted to do white circles on black for the added dramatic effect but I just wasnt sure I had enough black fondant to cover the cake. It would have solved my other broblem of having grey smudges on the fondant as I tried to stick on the circles then move them around a bit.

Happy 1St Birthday!
This is a photo given to me by a friend/client and the cake I made from it. It was the first time I'd been given a photo on which to base the design. It was tougher than I thought it would be - not my usual chocolate cake because apparently it's not good for babies (?). The texture of the fondant gave me problems too - the corners ripped but I was able to push it up enough that I didn't redo it. The bear is fondant as well and the eyes are dragees. The lettering is royal icing.

Swirl Of Flowers
This was just done for a potluck meeting but I decided to put it here because it could be a nice, easy, fast Mother's Day cake. The swirl was inspired by a cake I saw here (sorry I don't remember who!). I had some RI flowers pre-made and really had little time to prepare the cake so I used them up. 7" chocolate with mango passionfruit buttercream. Apparently it was delicious.

Fondant Snowman Birthday Cake
Thank you to luvtodecorate for this great design. I needed something uncomplicated for my friend's son's 7th birthday. He requested chocolate cake with brown sugar buttercream, but the color of it just didn't fit with winter decorations. So I tried the snowman in fondant. I found the length of the scarf difficult to manage. In the end it was quite thin - gravity!

Stringwork Practice Cake
Too many new techniques on one cake! First time: covering square cake with fondant, doing cornelli lace, trying Lambeth style, stringwork and bridgework. Didn't have time to add the brush embroidery flower I'd planned. My RI was too stiff - my knuckle joints were aching by the time I finished. I didn't bother repairing the broken strings from transport. I'd had enough by then! TFL

Trilevel Penguin Playground
My latest "techniques practice cake" for my book club. I wanted to try kakeladi's trilevel - it was a lot harder to ice than I anticipated, but I guess some more practice icing regular square cakes wouldn't have hurt - lol! Also wanted to try some modelling and I heard that penguins were easy. Sylvia Weinstock Classic Yellow Cake 12", vanilla buttercream. Igloo is sugar mold in mini ball pan, water is piping gel with blue food color. Penguins and snowballs are fondant. TFL

Winter Wonderland 60Th Birthday
My first paying cake! Thanks to Antonia74 and Kel6470 for the inspiration and instructions. My colleague wanted a winter themed cake that wasn't a birthday cake and not a Christmas cake. 8" 3 layer chocolate cake with vanilla SMBC. RI snowflakes on 18g wire inside a straw. It took so long and almost all the snowflakes broke, but I'm proud of myself for taking it on and doing it. TFL
