My 1st square cake - Fall flowers.
This is the baby shower cake I made for our nurse. It's a 2 tiered stacked cake - covered in marbled fondant, w/ a fondant baby & blanket. I also used mini cookie cutters to make animals on the sides of the cake. Ran out of fondant so the buttercream hides the seams in the tiers. Need more practice smoothing out the fondant - but not bad for my 1st tierd cake.
First time I covered a cake in fondant , including the base - love the drape effect - very nice to cover mistakes.
Our family has a connection with the UK and although I do not care for the traditional English pudding myself - I thought a cake would be an acceptable substitute. Used sports ball pan & coved the base w/ fondant to look like a swirled icey/snowy plate.
Here is my final cake from Course 2. I made a Fall cake with colorflow pumpkins instead of birds, a tan colored basket, & fall colored flowers.
