Five tier BC wedding cake. GP flowers are to look like wildflowers in the bride's colors to resemble the bouquets. Chocolate fondant barbed wire borders with a deer hunting themed topper--or rather an interrupted deer hunter. Not quite what I (or their parents) would have picked, but the couple was happy and that's what's important. An extremely humid week--not sure if that was what made it nearly impossible to smooth the BC? TFL!
Cake for my MIL's retirement lunch. I tried to include all her favorites: WASC, BC, daisies and pink. Much to my relief, she was thrilled. :) TFL!
A friend who works w/ mostly men at a hardware/repair place here wanted a cake for her boss who turned 50. She suggested the topic and saying, wanting something "disgusting." This is my version of her picture--RKT toilet covered in fondant (filled w/ piping gel and chocolate fondant "pooties"), fondant tiles and lettering. Completely different from what I'm used to, but fun! (Sorry if this offends anyone. He apparently was a good sport as it's all in fun.) TFL!
First birthday cake for a friend's first grandchild. She kindly only gave me a few requirements, and then let me play: something special w/ rubber duckies and hot pink trim. Fondant covered WASC w/ RKT duckies covered in fondant, gelatin bubbles, and fondant decorations. A fun cake to do! TFL!
For a girl turning 18--WASC covered w/ fondant. My first zebra and first striped bow. Was a little nervous, but the birthday girl was thrilled! (Whew!) TFL!
Chocolate cake w/ pink BC covered in chocolate fondant. GP pink roses and fondant pearls. Birthday cake for my niece, who has three boys--so felt she needed something "girly." TFL!
Cake for the office--a nurse leaving and a nurse practitioner's b-day. In an effort to brighten our winter blues, I went w/ a more tropical theme--GP hibiscus flowers and fondant shells on a Snickerdoodle cake w/ cinnamon BC. TFL!
Red velvet cake covered in fondant with gumpaste spray of poinsettia, rose buds, pine cones, and holly. TFL!
WASC iced w/ yellow BC (to match the roses), covered w/ white fondant--I thought it would look neat after it was cut, w/ the color contrast, then forgot to take another picture. Roses are gumpaste. Cake was last week for Nurse Practitioner's and X-ray Tech's week, so I made two sprays--one for our NP and one for our x-ray tech each to keep. TFL!
My small display that flew to ICES in San Diego this year. My first time to fly w/ a cake, but a good experiment. Dummy covered in fondant w/ GP bowl of GP marigolds on top. TFL!
Was short on time, so covered in fondant and cut out fondant stars. Quick and easy, but they liked it at the pitch-in anyway! TFL!
Saw this idea on Wilton and had to try it! To keep it colorful, this is red velvet w/ BC--so red on the inside to match the outside. TFL!
My 2nd wedding cake, but the largest (real) cake I've done. Made me a little nervous, but thanks to some encouragement and support from some kind people on CC, everything went smoothly. Bottom is 16", then 12", 8", and 6". GP flowers; fondant ribbon. TFL!
