This cake was made for a very special friend. She wanted something a bit whimsical but not a wonky. She had some pictures that she kind of liked but none of them what she really loved. So I sketched it out, worked it up on my computer and she fell in love with it. Instead of mints, she had me make 200 mini cuppies to go with it. They were chocolate mint cake with a chocolate mint buttercream and a minty buttercream colored to match her pink & brown theme. Each cuppie had a fondant flower on top to match the fondant flowers on the scalloped edges on the cake. This was a super fun cake to make!
This cake was for our new grandson. Our family is baseball crazy so I put the baby in a baseball glove. The nursery is decorated in elephants so I included the elephant theme also. The quilt on top represents the quilt that I made for him for the shower. The welcome blocks were to welcome him into this world! I had to travel 4 hours with this cake so I was thrilled that it turned out!
