Kettle Grill Cake
Inspired by all the lovely grill cakes here already for my DH's B-day. Lemon-coconut cake iced in lemon BC and then ganache. 'Coals' are mini marshmallows that I toasted under the broiler and then dusted around the brown bits with red luster dust for the low-coals look. The grate is linguine dusted with gold luster dust. Food was actually made from colored tootsie rolls as my gumpaste and I are having a fight. ;) Burgers are peppermint patties. Not great looking, but really fun to do.

Airplane-Cookie Groom's Cake
Groom's cake for a friend's wedding. He wanted an airplane flying into a chocolate chip cookie. It is an inside joke for the bride and groom. Cake is red velvet with fluffy cream cheese icing. Surrounded by airplane-shaped cookies. He wanted a cartoon-like plane. The heat that day made the cookies a bit soft, so the large one started to sag and a groomsman 'helped' it along to breakage. :) It was a hit though, and the groom was thrilled.

Wedding Cake--Mi To In
I made this cake (8 layers total) for a good friend's wedding. She wanted plain white cake, no filling, white buttercream and simple calla lily decoration. Sadly, I am in MI and her wedding was in IN so the cake had to travel 2 hours, then be dropped off to stay cool, then another hour to the reception. I did the flowers at the hall, but my crisp smooth buttercream got a bit melty and the spiked pearl edges look really droopy. She was happy though and that is what matters.

Guinness Stout Cake
Chocolate Guinness stout cake filled and frosted with Guinness ganache and royal icing lettering. Buttercream edging and foam on the pint. Made for DH's birthday 2 years ago...got a little warm in the August heat before the pic. Should have used a firmer cake, but it tasted wonderful!
