Purple Topsy Wedding Cake
For my sister's wedding. She's a hockey player, he's a musician. The flowers and cake traveled on a 3 hour flight and 3 hours by car to reach the destination! The music on the second tier is 'The Hockey Song' by Stompin' Tom.
Excellent At 80
Made to match the invitations. Vines are royal icing painted with gold dust (mixed with vodka)
Retro 80S Music Cake
Had a great time making this cake! So much fun. All edible - I added a pic of the real thing beside the cake for scale! It was big! The board was 26" across.
Dr. Who Hologram Chamber
Made for a Dr. Who fan. The Tardis is made from RKT and I used a cake board to make the "reflective" ring.
Barefoot Shoe Cake
My friend was running a marathon the day after her birthday - We had to steal her shoes to get this one right!!
Animal Baby Shower
The design for this cake was inspired by the invitation. Animals are sugar cookies that were also made for favours. I made a cardboard template and cut them out then flooded with royal. Top tier was "quilted" (my first attempt - there must be a better way! lol) The bottom tier I painted using a sewing ruler to keep the horizontal lines straight. Thanks for looking!
Pink Bridal Shower
Last minute cupcakes for a bridal shower (Friend's Daughter). CCs topped with 50/50 gp/fondant discs. Used acrylic stamp to add purple design to discs.
Fish Vs Fisherman
Made for my DH's BFF. Both are avid Fishermen so the bass had to be pretty accurate! Fish is RKT. He's not a fan of fondant so I only used it on the top where I had intended on making ripples with it. Ran into some issues with the structure and so it set before I had time to make them.
Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings - Book Launch
This cake was made for the launch of my friend's book. It meant I got to read the book ahead of the release date! And it was awesome! I took bits from the story and incorporated it into the cake. It was so much fun to do.
Simon's Thomas The Tank Engine
For a "Thomas" themed birthday. Top tier is fondant wraps and the bottom tier is airbrushed fondant for the bricks and fondant tunnels. Chocolate rocks between the 2 tiers. This cake was a lot of fun!
For my DS birthday - his design! Airbrushed buttercream with gumpaste cut-out figures, Spongebob is fondant.
Black And White Swiss Dots
Marble cake (6,8,10) with whipped ganache filling. Fondant and royal icing.
Diary Of A Birthday Kid
For my DS 8th Birthday. Iced in buttercream with fondant bookcover. "Kid" is drawn with edible marker. Writing done in buttercream.
This cake kind of developed as I went. Started out with the duck based on the decorations and everything else fell into place as I went.
Fabric And Flowers
Made for an Interior Designer. I had specific colour swatches to follow. Was a little stressful but it turned out great and she loved it! The hearts were freehand with royal icing.
Faux Bois And Flowers
A chocolate wood-grain technique from Martha Stewart. Once I got it going it was pretty simple. The hardest part was lifting that much chocolate!
For my DS 5th Birthday. He helped with the design, told me what he would like on it (pom-poms, basketball and a clipboard for Sharpay)
