Red Hat Society Cake
This cake was requested by a woman for her great aunt's birthday. She asked for a cake in her aunt's favorite colors: black, white, and yellow. She also wanted to incorporate a red hat since her aunt was a member of the Red Hat Society. The cake is classic vanilla with lemon curd and is covered in vanilla fondant. The hat is made of cereal treats covered in fondant, the ribbon roses are fondant too. The white accents are vanilla BC.

Simple Bridal Shower
This cake was made by a friend and I. The bride's colors are black and white with red and purple flowers. The top tier is lemon cake with raspberry filling, the middle is chocolate cake with espresso buttercream, and the bottom is almond cake with raspberry filling. The cakes are covered in vanilla fondant and the flowers are gumpaste. We discovered the hard way that the bottom tier's dowels were a tad too short when we stacked and decorated and then saw that the bottom tier was buckling a bit! Oh well! Still pretty! :)

Feminine 60Th Brithday Cake
This cake was made for a friend's mother who was turning 60. She is a very "girly-girl" so we went with a very girly theme of things she likes: pocketbook, martini glass, and a designer shoe. The cake was supposed to have a tube of lipstick but I decided to leave it off at the last minute. The three layers are almond yellow cake with strawberry filling, covered in vanilla fondant. The decorations are all fondant except for the shoe, which is gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

Baby Shower Cake
I made this cake for my supervisor's baby shower that our department threw for her. It was super easy and the result was really pretty! The upper layer is chocolate with vanilla buttercream and the bottom layer is vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The cake is covered in fondant with fondant accents.

Pirate Princess Cake
This was a quick silly cake that I made for my daughter's 7th birthday party. She saw the party goods in a catalog and decided she just had to have the pirate princess theme so I whipped this up in a flash. The skull and crossbones are made of fondant, the cake is iced in buttercream, and the side is actually an edible image border that a local cake supply place offers. Not my best but it was a hit!

Mickey's Clubhouse Cake
This was my first effort with fondant, so I kept it simple. This is the cake I made for my son's 3rd b-day. Many thanks to my friend LK for helping me get over my fear of fondant! The top layer is chocolate with chocolate buttercream, the other is vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The fondant is Satin Ice vanilla. The figures I got at Toys R Us in a set and were a great gift for my son afterward!
