Birthaversary Cake
My first attempt with marshamallow fondant, and the second time covering a whole (real) cake in fondant. 10", 8", and 6".. dark chocolate, white, and devils food.... all buttercream fillings.... was going to fill with different flavors, but had a bad day and gave up and turned to a sure bet. For my hubby and mine belated anniversary and my belated birthday party tomorrow. Done with daisy cutters and leaf cutters. Design was inspired by our invitations, plates and napkins.

2008 Wilton 80Th Anniversary
So anyway, this was my entry in the Wilton Competition on June 14th, I called it "Seasons" for lack of a better title. This was my first competition. I don't know how to make a photo collage, but once I figure it out I'll post a new pic showing the back and further details, like my black cat, hiding bunny, little snowman, acorns and rice paper butterflies.

Just For Fun/practice
Hubby's cousin wanted 5 cakes on 5 days notice for her kids' birthday... three for the kids (twins and a step) one for "just in case" and another for her mother (it was the day before Mother's Day. This was the "just in case" had been practicing with velum butterflies (don't have rice paper) and just wanted something fun and easy since I had so many to do. All buttercream, leftover royal icing flowers from another project.

1St Tiara
My first attempt at a royal icing tiara, practicing for a cake later this year. This one had a minor break when I removed it... all my fault cuz I fumbled it, but not bad for first try. Will later reporduce it and paint it... Template was done freehand, but was inspired by the tiara I wore for my wedding.

Penguin Palace
So here was my entry to the Wilton Castle Decorating contest for April. I wasn't disqualified or anything, just didn't win. Penguins done in candy melts, path is rock candy, pond is melted sugar, banner poles are chocolate covered stick pretzels. The rest is royal icing, fondant and buttercream. Thanks for looking.

Lightening Mcqueen
Made for a cousins childs 7th birthday. Party date was bumped up so I didnt' get to make it quite how I wanted to, just simply ran out of time, but they all loved it, so that's all that really matters. All buttercream on cake except diecast cars and "diner" which turned into his birthday presents.
