This was my daughter's 3rd birthday cake and my 3rd fondant cake. The top layer is covered in fondant and the bottom layer is buttercream. Both layers have fondant decorations.
OK, here's the back of my first fondant cake. I can't figure out how to make it so the fondant doesn't pleat as I'm spreading it out on the cake. I followed the instructions, but it doesn't even mention that issue. Any pointers would be great!
This is just a close up of that same cake.
This is my first fondant cake ever. I messed up the back of the cake because I'm having trouble how to deal with the pleats I'm getting when I lay the rolled fondant on the cake and attempt to smooth it out. It's a little lumpy too, but not bad for a first try.
