Beach Scene Cake
This was a fun cake to make for a girl coming home from the military. I was told she liked flip-flops, so I went from there. The cake is butter yellow with a rum-apricot-pineapple filling. The icing is buttercream, the "sand" is brown sugar, and the flip-flops & stars are fondant. The lettering is much clearer in person, and was achieved by stamping the message into the "sand", and then filling the grooves with blue-tinted gel icing to look like water.

Spaceship Earth Epcot Cake
This was a last minute cake, so it's a little plain. I made it using the Wilton Sports Ball pan, and my husband constructed the legs from card stock. I used a pale gray buttercream icing to fill in the ball with stars, and then coated it with a thin layer of silver shimmer dust. If I'd had more time, I would have added tinsel fireworks on wires over top of it. Maybe next time!
