Wedding
Red velvet with Decorator's Cream Cheese Frosting. This is my first paid for wedding cake, the bride gave me a picture of a cake that she wanted but I just couldn't get the effect on the frosting that she wanted so I'm not too happy with it. The flowers overshadow the top layer way too much but when they arrived from the florist they were arranged in a 2" piece of wet floral foam shoved into a paper cup and I had to add extra flowers at the bottom to cover the cup even though I sunk it down into the cake about 1 1/2" inches. This was the first time I'd worked with flowers from florist so I didn't know what to expect. I'f I had known how it was going to arrive I'd have had some other supplies to do it correctly.

4Th Of July
Chocolate tier and red velvet tier. Both have cream cheese frosting under MFF and filled with a bettercream/bavarian cream filling. This cake was made at the last minute to replace my original designed cake which was a complete disaster. This one didn't start out much better but with the artistic help of my daughter painting on the fireworks, it actually didn't turn out too bad. One day I hope to master the use of fondant!!!

Double Graduation
This is a chocolate cake filled with raspberry. The icing is Indydebi's BC and the colors are Sams Club But-R-Cream because I hate to make red, green and black! The large letters are my first attempt at FBCT. The cap is MFF covered RKT and the diploma is also MFF. This cake is for a brother and sister, one graduating from HS the other from College.

This disaster looked pretty good going out the door - it wasn't until I looked at the pictures and saw all the bumps and lumps - I wanted to chase the customer down the street and make her give it back to me! It was also the only cake I've ever gotten a negative comment from - they said it was "dry". Go figure - a disaster both ways.

50Th Birthday
This was a last-minute emergency design change when my photo printer stopped working! White cake with lemon filling. Whipped buttercream type frosting with fondant stars and drapes at the corners. "50" made from chocolate. Because I didn't plan for a black and white theme the only black frosting I had for the writing was RI - ended up terrible but there's not much to do once black is on a white cake!!! Live & Learn...

Practice Cake
This is a practice/display cake on styrofoam dummies. Fondant, pink is painted on with colored piping gel, topper "B" is colored white choc. I accidently started putting on the roses on the top tier before I put the stripes, oops! I tried and learned a lot of things with this project! The inspiration for the design was a beautiful cake by Toptier (thank you!).

Vintage Christmas
Accidental success! I still have not mastered estimating how much Bettercream to whip - so orignal plan was to add choc. syrup for the filling for this choc. cake. I whipped SO much I just went ahead and frosted the whole cake with it. My MMF poinsettia leaves and berries were very bright (originally planned on a white frosting) so I toned them down a little with liquid pearl, brown gel mixture and painted on. The look is very muted and actually doesn't look too bad.

Christmas Birthday Cake
This is a chocolate cake with White Chocolate/Peppermint Bettercreme frosting and filling with chopped Andes' Peppermint Crunch Thins in the filling. The santa hat is a chocolate/mint cake ball covered in candy melts with RI for the brim and candy clay for the pom pom, both covered in clear sugar crystals. Thank you to both tabbiekat and gingersoave for the inspiration.

Wilton Level 3 Class Project
This was my final project for level 3 class back in December 2000. The final class just happened to be on the same night as my husbands work Christmas party so I took it there for everyone to eat....unknown to me my DH had told everyone it was a "Fake Cake' so it just sat there for people to look at - once I found out what was going on, I cut it myself and ate the first piece just so people could see that it was "real"!!!
