Yellow cake with chocolate pudding filling. Buttercream icing with fondant accents (stars, diploma, letters, etc). The only thing I was disappointed with was the buttercream which wouldn't go on smoothly after the crumb coating. But practice makes perfect.
5th birthday cake for my little cousin - I played around with fondant once before but this was my first real cake that I did everything (fondant, cupcake icing, the sugar flowers, chocolates & decorations) on my own. The blue is white tinted fondant, the green is green grassy things are drawn on with "cupcake" icing, the flowers are edible sugar, the seashells are chocolate, and the "sand" is crushed grahmn crackers.
This is in addition to my first cake made with fondant, just had some extra left over so went ahead & made something for my adorable nephew Jacob.
I haven't taken any classes, just taking learning into my own hands. This is my first attempt at fondant. The fondant bow didn't come out perfect, but with practice I will improve.
This is my first attempt at decorating a cake. I think it came out decent, but I hadn't slept in 2 days and I finished decorating it about 5 am, and the shower was at 11am ... no sleep that night either. Also, the writing tip broke, so as you can see I had to use a much bigger one and the writing wasn't that good.
