My inspiration always comes from this site......I've always wanted to make a garden cake, and since my mom loves tulips, I thought it would work. The tulips and fence are sugar cookies decorated with royal icing; the rest is buttercream
the cap is a piece of cardboard covered in tinted white chocolate candy melts )I didn't have any fondant on hand)' I also used a cupcake to make the head piece

I made this cake to match the invitations to the party. BC, white cake, Bavarian Cream filling

I cut this from a double layer 9 x 13, all buttercream. I drove this cake to Kansas City from Chicago.....I ended up having to redo the whole top in the hotel room because the box top stuck to the top of the cake. I learned my lesson in traveling with cakes.
This cake is inspired from a Colette Peters cake. The flowers, ribbons, and butterfly are made using gumpaste, roll it out thin, cut in 1/4" thick strips and roll, or cut them out using flower cutters. The cake is iced in BC
10' round iced in bc. The harlequin diamonds and "ribbons" on the top are made with rolled buttercream. I wouldn't use rolled buttercream anymore, it was too hard to shape the ribbons, I prefer gumpaste.
This cake was a beast for me. I iced it with yellow BC, then used black BC (which I tried to tint black, but looks gray) for the outlines after I laid down a piping gel transfer of the lion. The red is piping gel also.

This cake is covered in fondant and decorated with buttercream. The money tray is carboard covered with foil, the coins are chocolate, and the handle is made from fondant painted with black food coloring diluted with a little water. A pain to work with the fondant, I'd make some changes for next time.

This cake was done all in buttercream for a die hard Sox fan!!
