#1
This was for a friend who coaches children's soccer and is a huge fan of the sport. After several disasters and scheduling problems, I finally managed to finish it up and zip out to the party. My first ball cake (and the geometry of a soccer ball is a killer!) so next time there are a few things I'll be doing differently but the main thing is that she loved it! Vanilla cake, raspberry filling, IMBC and fondant.

Green Gucci
This cake was inspired by a Gucci purse, although I took many liberties with it. These included a change in color - brown was so boring and my friend's favorite color is lime green! My first purse cake and I'm really happy with how it turned out! Vanilla cake, mandarin orange filling, IMBC and fondant. TFL!

Poisonous Mushrooms
B-day cake for my SIL who requested these mushrooms to go along with her red/white theme (and her personality which she admits to being 'poisonous' at times...). Unfortunately most of my butterflies died (broke) - there were supposed to be a few red and white ones resting on the stump. 3-8" layers of white cake with raspberry filling and IMBC.

Burning Passion
This cake was for hard-rock-loving neighbors who finally decided to tie the knot and was inspired by the invitation (in front of cake). Unfortunately I forgot to take the camera along so I'm missing a picture with the green arrow shooting through the cake that I had to add at the venue. I'll get one eventually. The tiers are (top to bottom): yellow-chocolate-yellow with raspberry-cherry-mandarin orange filling. Gumpaste and MMF accents, styrofoam heart and wires for the thorny rose vines were covered in MMF. TFL! :-)

Bag Of Money
A good friend has mentioned a couple times this year that "no friend of his is just going to hand him a bag of money." Of course I'll be the first and probably only one! Look closely and you'll see it's complete with extra-lucky 5-leaf clovers - I didn't have a clover cutout so I used a small flower! I cut a carrot to get the euro symbol and impressed it into the fondant coins. Yellow cake, mandarin orange filling, IMBC and fondant.

My B-Day Cake
I've been wanting to try out a tapered shape and a bow for a while now and took the chance. The bow needs a little work and I had fondant issues, but it'll still be a fun cake for the party :-) I also got to play with my brand new Makin extruder. Yippeeee! Love that thing! White cake, raspberry filling, fondant.

Personalized Barbie Cake
Before you say "wow, what an ugly cake" I'd like to say that this is from my early caking days! Like before I learned I needed a flat surface to write on... ;-) Anyway, what I wanted to share was the technique I used for personalizing the Barbie. I simply found a doll with the right hair, cut out a picture of my friend's face, taped it on Barbie's face and then wrapped a piece of plastic wrap around the head (tied it under the hair) to get the necessary curvature and hide the edges of the photo. Works well!

My Wedding Cake!
This is the cake I made for my mostly DIY wedding last year (2007). Since I live in Germany, I had my sweet sister take the fondant class for me and teach me how to cover the cakes and make the roses. The cake is her design - being a total fondant newbie, I was too chicken to get creative. Thanks to CC, that has since changed!!! Thanks everybody! :-)

Cheesecake Ii
Not long after doing my first cheesecake, I got a request from my neighbor to do another one. :-) Turns out the "birthday boy" was getting a cheese cart for his restaurant and this was placed on top. I'm not as happy with this one but it still turned out cute. Yellow cake with raspberry filling, MMF mice and sign.

Cheesecake!
One of my very best friends requested a birthday cake that looks like food. Plus she loves mice. When I saw this idea on CC I knew it was absolutely perfect for her! Thanks for the ideas fellow mouse-makers! The sign says "Aged to perfection". Chocolate cake with raspberry filling, sign and mice MMF.

Mariokart Cake For Maximiliano
The birthday boy is getting Mariokart for the Wii so his mom thought a matching cake would be fun! I had so many other ideas that I wanted to incorporate but time constraints forced me to simplify. The high praise I got from my 11-year-old son every step of the way mean I did something right! ;-) Fondant bananas and sign, RI mushrooms.

Shirin's Barbie Cake
My first Barbie cake! I never would have been able to pull this off without all of the pictures, ideas and tips from all of you cakaholics at CC! Thanks! You're the best! And you've helped me make a little girl extremely happy! :-) Btw...chocolate cake, raspberry filling, fondant dress.
