This is a Mrs. McQuitty Lemon Chiffon cake. The recipe can be found on this site. It was a recipe that was popular when my mom was a lttle girl. I iced the cake with the McQuitty icing then accented it with buttercream.
The picture is a little over exposed but you get the general idea.
This cake was for a woman turning 80. The lady that ordered it wanted something with lace that looked vintage and metioned the 40s so I googled 1940's lace and found the pattern I used for the cake. It is all done in buttercream. I actually made two of them but they looked the same.
