My daughter's tenth birthday. I took the background out of the photo because I had the table set up in front of the window and all you could see through the window was the neighbor's AC unit. The cake is 6-8-10 and I used gumpaste for the sword and hook, white chocolate for the skull, and fondant for the rest.
Cake is based on a Cakegirls design. I used a wilton mold for the skull, all other details were hand-molded.
Monster High Spectra
My first attempt at a topsy turvy, done to match my daughter's birthday present, a Monster High doll named Spectra Vondergeist.
Ivy, Dogwood And Roses
I used the new Wilton molds for most of the details on the cake. The tier sizes are 6" and 10", covered with MMF, and the flowers are gumpaste.
My daughter's 9th birthday. She loves all things Asian. I used the small and medium Wilton pillow pans.
10" and 6" with gumpaste bow and stars. The cameos are chocolate and the stripes were painted on.
Black And Red Corset
Red velvet cake with marshmallow fondant. The pattern on the corset was made with a placemat and the red details were made with a Makins extruder. The really bright silver color is Americolor airbrush color, put on with a paintbrush. The cake itself is a 12" heart with the sports ball on top as the bust. The heart is carved a bit to look more like an hourglass figure.
This is the first wedding cake that I've ever made. The flowers are gumpaste and the molded decorations were made with a simple plastic mold.
Just A Little Slice, Please
This slice of cake is 9" high, not counting the candle. The decorations are all fondant. I cut a 10" round into quarters and stacked them to get the shape.
MMF and RI on Wilton's no-chill sugar cookie recipe. I always use MMF but this is the first time I've ever used royal icing (at all, not just on cookies). My writing looked straight when I was doing it :D but my mom will probably eat it anyhow.
This is a bourbon chocolate cake with a raspberry swirl, raspberry buttercream and fondant. I had never heard of Thor's Hammer until I got this request. For anyone else as clueless as me :P it's a Norse god, and the reason they wanted it for a cake was because the birthday boy (age 36) wears a Thor's Hammer pendant.
This is the first big cake I've made for anyone outside of my family. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There are matching sugar cookies, also covered with marshmallow fondant.
Hello Kitty Topper
My first fondant figure (well, the first one that came out good enough to show anyone, LOL). MMF bow and MMF Hello Kitty.
A Bear In The Woods
WASC covered in MMF. Bear and shrubs are rice krispie treat. Tree is made from wire, plastic straws, and dowels covered in MMF. This was a Father's Day cake for my husband, who is nicknamed Daddy Bear and who loves the Charmin commercials. The tree is about a foot tall and the cake is a carved 9X13.
