1950's Housewife Themed Bridal Shower
This bridal shower was a 1950's theme. Cookies were to represent the typical 50's Housewife. The doll is RKT to match the cookies. Mini cupcakes were included to match all of the above. The interesting part, to me, was that all this was made on my 1950's kitchen table.

Ronald Mcdonald Camp 25Th Anniversary For Icing Smiles
This cake was done with two other members on Cake Central, momade and another friend. This cake was a donation cake for Icing Smiles. It was for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Their camp was celebrating their 25th Anniversary. There were almost 200 children there with cancer, plus volunteer counselors, family members as well as others. To give an idea of size, the tent served approx. 200. Three of the cakes were left and brought back to Ronald McDonald House to be served there, plus they took all the figures on the cakes. The camps theme for the week was circus, so they requested a circus theme cake. Everything on the cake is edible, except the net itself. The cakes were laid on on tables measuring 8' x 8', we had to use a queen size sheet for the table cloth. Making this cake was the greatest honor each of the 3 of us have had. The experience is one none of us are able to describe, but we each are so thankful we were given the opportunity to do this cake. In addition, one of the counselors was a Make a Wish child for the founder of Icing Smiles. How wonder he was there that day.

Sea Turtle 50Th Birthday Cake
This cake was done for a friends surprise party when he recently turned 50. He collects sea turtles so this was the obvious choice for a cake for him. The body and head are cake. The legs are RKT. All is covered in fondant. The top of the shell was painted after indent marks were made in the fondant.

Sweet 16 Cake
There is absolutely nothing special about the cake design. The cake and frosting though are both dog friendly. I made a 6" heart shaped cake done with a basketweave pattern. I did this cake for my dog's Sweet 16 Birthday. She is 15 months cancer free, and just yesterday her vet announced her to be in perfect health (other than her arthritis and loss of hearing - both due to old age). I know the rules say we can't post photos with faces in them, but I hope this is an exception that is permissible. One of the photos is of my Shelby with her cake.

Sweet 16 Birthday Cake
This was for a neighbor's daughter who chose neon colors and black for her Sweet 16 birthday theme. She wanted zebra stripes and diamond patterns, and all the stars and that font for the number 16. The middle tier is chocolate cake with vanilla bc. The top cake was colored pink to match the pink on the outside and has chocolate bc. The bottom tier was also vanilla cake colored green to match the green on the outside. I used sixlets around the bottom of each tier and at the points on the diamond pattern

Harley Davidson, Leather Jacket Retirement Cake
Thank you to all the wonderful cakes that inspired this one. There are too many to name, but I took inspiration from each cake I saw. This is a retirement cake for a man who LOVES Harley Davidson's. I textured the fondant for a more leather look by using the nonslip padding.

Garden Party 60Th Birthday Cake
This was made for a friend who turned 60. All gluten free. Everything on the cake was made from fondant. I put dragees inside the seed packet so she could shake it and hear the seeds inside. I used Duff fondant for the lady bugs. They had about 4 days to setup and those who ate them asked me if I used jelly beans to make them. The outside had setup, but the inside had a jelly bean consistency. That was a cool discovery.

We got our first call to do a cake for Icing Smiles. Our little girl wanted to share her cake with everyone at the clinic. Her favorite nurse collects piggies and gave her a special one and helped her through a particularly difficult treatment. Now, she collects piggies too and brings them with her everytime she goes to the clinic. So, she wanted "a" piggie for her birthday. Then asked if all the kids there who have birthdays in February could somehow have their name on her cake as well. (Are you in love with her too?). Well, one piggie was just NOT going to do it..... The bottom tier is the mud the piggies are playing in (notice the one jumping off the clouds back to the mud). This cake was soooo much fun to make. And this cake doesn't come close to how rewarding an experience we got going to the clinic today. All we saw were happy children, playing and having fun. All the decorations are made from fondant. (The wire on the piggie jumping is inside a straw) Each piggie is different. I should have gotten a top view shot. The one to the right of the sun is laying on his back, flying a kite.
