Box Of Chocolates For My Sweetie
This is my first attempt at the "box of chocolates" cake. Based on the version i saw from Bakerella. I love it. I used Satin Ice for the first time and found that i don't like it, the texture, the flavor and the way it works. Maybe i got an old container or maybe i wasn't using it correctly but i think i will stick to my homemade fondant :) The candies were oreo truffles. It was really fun to make.

My First Wedding Cake
This was my first wedding cake. It was difficult for me and gave me a hard time because it was hot and humid out and the fondant wasn't having it. It is a french vanilla cake, the top tier has a cheesecake filling and the bottom tier has a chocolate mousse filling. The bride told me what colors she wanted and let me come up with the decoration.

My Engagement Cake
This was my last minute engagement party cake. A simple french vanilla cake. Dark Chocolate Mousse filling with MMF and RI details. My first time trying drop lines, everything was freehanded and the B is our last initial. Made the day before the party on a very hot and humid day, MMF was hard to work with but it held up and started to sweat after we started to cut it.

Julie's Zebra Cake
Non filled Funfetti cake, covered in MMF, Hand painted zebra stripes, 5050 mix of MMF and gumpaste for purple bow - my first attempt - did not like how it didn't stay dry and hard - when I assembled it it was nice and firm but once I put it on the cake it got soft. It was OK for my first attempt- now I know what to do next time. "J" plaque handpainted as well.

Deconstructed Mickey
2 Cake tier, chocolate cake with Oreo Filling - which is totally yummy, yellow tier covered in MMF airbrushed, Red Tied covered in Satin Ice (not a huge fan but its nice to not have to color red!) black hat top is leftover cake - once the rounded tops were cut off the 4 cakes they were crumbled and mixed with some icing, packed into a bowl and frozen, covered in MMF and airbrushed black, ears are gumpasted airbrushed. Made for my MIL, a mickey lover, but not too kiddie :) She loved it! It made my day and it was SOOO fun to make - with my goddaughter - the best mixer ever!

Hannah Montana Guitar
This is a french vanilla cake with chocolate pudding filling. Covered in MMF and MMF/RI details. THe neck of the guitar is RKT covered in MMF- my first time using - didn't come out as great as I hoped - there wasn't enough but it was too late to make more. THe only non edible part is the head of the guitar - its cardboard covered in MMF. Happy Birthday and name plaque are gum paste free handed and hand painted. Free handed painted details on guitar. I had a lot of fun making this and special thanks to Lucy18 for her insight :)

Dad's Birthday Bass
This was just a simple Devils Food cake with Dark Chocolate Truffle mousse covered in MMF. I wanted to try a Chocolate Transfer because I really like how the FBCTs work, but now having no AC in the house makes it difficult - the last FBCT i did i practially had to work in the freezer! Anyway - I was really happy with the way this came out,I freehanded the design on parchment - now if i could just figure out how to NOT get those little air bubbles it would be perfect.!

Transformer Cookies
I made these for my BF for when the new Transformers 2 movie came out. They are NFSC with MMF and RI design. I made a stencil for the outline and used a mix of black gel and water to paint the stencil on, after I removed the stencil I used RI in the space that had no gel color. He loved them and told me that they tasted just like Lucky Charms cereal.

Anniversary Cake
This was a last minute cake decision. I had the left over cakes, the RI, I cheated and bought DH icing and premade chocolate filling. This coincidently was my first MMF covered cake and the first time i used RI on MMF. Everything is freehanded, i had originally cut out stencils but that didn't work for me this time - and i realized that i should probably stop adding decorations because it usually looks better the simplier the design. So I'm posting pictures of the initial idea (black only) and then the finished (black and white).

3D Snake
This was my first attempt at a 3D/Carved cake - I wasn't to happy with it by my DH thought it was awesome. I think if it was a larger size it would have been easier to work with. I also made the mistake of trying to paint on the buttercream.... it worked but barely. This is the last time i wing something without planning first! The scales were done with circle tip, just 1/2 the circle. The icing is BC flavored with Vanilla Caramel. It may not have looked very pretty but it sure tasted good.

Pepsi Logo
This is a practice cake. It was my first time using the roller method to smooth the icing and i loved it. You can't really tell by the pix but the lcing is so smooth and flat. The logo was just a last minute idea for something round to cover the entire top - my DH loves Pepsi so i told him I made it just for him. Hee Hee

The Backyardigans
My first attempt at MMF figures, i thought i had it all planned out well - i fooled myself - i only gave 1 day to dry and they were HEAVY - you can see the picnic table needed to be readjusted to hold the weight. Everything is edible except the picnic table with the DH made for me.
