Sesame Street
I made this cake for my two sons birthdays. My older kids actually pitched in to make some of the accents. The cake itself is strawberry and banana alternating 8" layers, with buttercream and covered in MMF. The accents are MMF/gumpaste. Cookie Monster is actually a potato covered in MMF, and the heads are prunes covered in MMF! For Oscar's trash can, I covered a shot glass in MMF. Hey, whatever works! I wanted to make Super Grover flying over the building, but I ran out of time. Next time I will make the doors and windows the day before so that they don't take on the brick imprint of the walls.

Classic Pooh Baby Shower
My first paid cake! Woo-hoo! This is a WASC with buttercream, covered in handmade MMF. Accents MMF/GP. Also made 2 dozen cupcakes, half bees and half were the hunny pots. Took forever, but it was fun! And more importantly, there was no cake-tastrophe! Whew. On a side note, I found some rubbermaid containers at Walmart that carry a dozen cupcakes perfectly, and leave enough space for lots of frosting/accents. Latches securely and stacks. They are called Handi-Box snap locks, just wanted to pass that along because I love them! TFL

Monkey Themed Baby Shower Cake
I made this cake for my cousin's baby shower. WASC covered in buttercream, and all fondant is MMF except the brown, which is Satin Ice dark chocolate. The poor monkey's arms kept trying to fall off, but all in all the cake was a blast to make, and my cousin was very happy!

Dad Sleeping On Couch
I made this cake for my dad...here he is doing his favorite activity! This was my first attempt at using fondant to make figures. The Bible, dad, and remote are all MMF. The cake and couch are WASC with buttercream covered in MMF. Had a tough time with his hair, though, and I didn't have enough time to figure out how to make a good bald spot. At the party Dad put a blob of ranch dip on the hair for a bald spot, hee hee! Thanks for looking!

First Fondant Cake
This was my first attempt at fondant and a stacked cake. This was for my daughter's 13th birthday. I admit I used Wilton's premade rolled fondant, which I flavored and colored. (Tastes like chewy plastic, yuck! Definitely make my own next time!!) I wish I could say I handmade the decorations, but the ribbons, "diamonds" and jewelry box topper were purchased from Hobby Lobby. My daughter and her friends loved it, so that made all the work and big kitchen mess worth it! Can't wait to try making my own fondant and decorations next time!
