For my dad's office birthday party. He's an Oklahoma State graduate. Pistol Pete is a FBCT. Double layer 9" square yellow cake with vanilla BC inside and out.
Not 100% happy with these, but this was last year and I know I'm better now. At least they tasted good! Left one is lemon white cake with homemade lemon curd filling and lemon-tinged BC. The piping is done in the lemon curd. Right one is carrot with cream cheese icing.
For my husband's 29th birthday. I know I made it from scratch, but have since discarded the cake and icing recipes. I knew nothing about smoothing icing, and didn't own any bags or tips yet. I used some Betty Crocker decorating gels. I can only look back and laugh.
My first carved cake. Yellow cake, cream cheese icing, free-handed BC designs. You can't see it well, but I made antennae out of silver jewelry wire and put small green faceted beads on the ends. For my friends' 3 year old girl's birthday.

Yellow cake, buttercream outside, vanilla pastry cream inside, sanding sugar coating for an icy effect. Royal icing snowflakes made using a font recommended in the forums. Lots of compliments on this one- made as the girls' cake at a family birthday.
Hershey's Special Dark chocolate cake and frosting, which makes nearly black icing and a really dark cake. Buttercream grass- my first time with my new 233 tip. The sand trap is made from a mixture of white sanding sugar, turbinado sugar, and brown sugar. Made for a family birthday party- this is the guys' cake. Lots of compliments on the taste, which is a nice rich chocolate worthy of a big glass of milk.
A Chinese dragon cake for my sister's 29th birthday. Vanilla cake with vanilla bean pastry cream filling, buttercream iced, FBCT design with freehanded details, gold pearl dust on the beads and dragon's back. First time using the pearl dust- it went OK, but not quite how I planned. (Buttercream beads got a little smashed in the application.)
White cake, buttercream, painted with vodka and gel color mixture. Not happy with how the flowers came out, but this was my first time doing petals. Painted lettering says "Happy Birthday" in Kanji, which is Japanese.
Foofa from the show "Yo Gabba Gabba," made for my daughter's second birthday party. White cake, FBCT, buttercream iced, strawberry filled. I love the FBCT technique, and this one is my favorite so far.
I made this cake for my husband. He's a big Detroit hockey fan, and they won the Stanley Cup this year. This is my second attempt at FBCT, and it came out better than I expected. Yellow cake with my regular BC and tubes of Wilton red and black.
