I did this cake for my oldest childs graduation. I made orange and black stars out of royal icing and attached them to curled ribbon (around top and bottom borders) and florists wire (inserted into "buried" straws around perimeters of bottom two tiers and behind grad on top tier). This turned out better than my imagination had pictured it.
The bride wanted a cake to be remembered. The "Bride and Groom" sat on wooden boxes on chairs, with the mini "Wedding Cake" on the table. The florist decorated the cake table to look like the Bridal party table.
This groom wanted an orange wedding cake!!!! What to do?? I iced with white buttercream and the used thinned orange buttercream and new sponge and "spackled" the cake. This was the easiest, fastest, and one of the most complemented cakes I have done.
