First layer is white cake mix, and a drop of pink food coloring was added to each subsequent layer to make the light to dark look. Used cream cheese whipping cream frosting, which worked perfectly!

Thanks to bluedragonfly for the idea on this cake. I realized after I made the cake that it probably should be made with smaller pans (I used 10"), since the "tub" became more like a "vat!" Everyone liked the cake, and it was an added bonus to get a couple of cookies with each piece of cake.
Birthday boy's daddy is a firefighter, so they went with a firetruck theme for baby's first birthday.

Didn't want to use dark, drab colors, especially since the birthday girl is younger than me : ) Curlicues are fondant wrapped around a pencil and then dried.
Birthday boy loves Scooby Doo, so loved his cake. Boat "sided" with Kit Kat bars. Figurines purchased. Gummy Lifesavers.
I got this idea for this cake from kathrynscakesncookies. The figures are made with royal icing. This was the first time I tried this idea. I like the concept, but should have added more icing to the figures to make them thicker, as they cracked when I put them on the cake.
Not creative enough to make a full body figurine, so opted to make it look like the snowboarder fell off so I only had to make legs. The birthday boy liked it, so I was happy about that. Used a store-bought skateboard keychain and buried the wheels into the icing so it looked like a snowboard. Trees are ice cream cones covered with royal icing leaves.
40th birthday party with a Caribbean theme.

The wedding will be in Jamaica, so tried to do the shower cake with a tropical theme. Colors matched the shower invite.
